I'm wondering what media hype will be next, and if people still take everything the media reports for serious?? I for sure don't, and never did :D .

Just when you thought it was going away it's on the rise again. Less than a week ago 5 Aussies had tested positive for swine flu. As of today the number is 67 and is expected to rise rapidly. The news is reporting there are 300 suspected cases in NSW alone and it was also suggested 1 in 5 Victorians potentially are at risk (that's over 600,000 people). Travel is the obvious link eg cruise ship infections and flights back from the US/Mexico but now it's in the general population, schools etc. One unfortunate family has been quarantined in their hotel while on holidays interstate because of possible infection. The father was on tv tonight saying it could cost the family up to $10,000 because of cancelled flights, hotel accomodation, food, wages etc while they wait it out. While I still don't believe the virus is a bigger threat than all the other nasties you can catch it actually is becoming a worry. :( Even if not often deadly being sick and quarantined wouldn't be much fun.

There is more people dying of the recent cyclone in Bangladesh than have died from Swine flue. It needs to be put in perspective.More people have died from regular flu than the present version of the H1N1 virus.

reports from Australia say there are now more than 150 confirmed cases in aussie, and 2 cruise ships have been quarrantined. A vaccine is being developed and expected to be available in about 3 months. As i have said before, the aussie govt is certainly taking the situation seriously.

We are now a few months down the track from the virus surfacing in Mexico, so was wondering how everyone now views the situation. Now i know ordinary flu kills and hospitalises many people the world over every year, but this flu is getting bigger. In oz, 18 people have died and was reported yesterday that 85% of flu patients reporting to Perth emergency wards are found to be positive to the swine flu virus. Victoria seems worst affected in oz. Bali has had cases of the virus and i understand in UK it is getting a hold. How do members see things now? :?:

Clearly some posters did not take suggestion from Doris and find out more info re pandemic swine flu, so I am not going to comment on posts.Singapore Govt. has advised tourists NOT to go to Victoria,1800 people tested positive as from yesterday , and finally 19 people died as from yesterday the last being a 3 year old boy :( All Victorians.

Aplogies re last post I meant to say 19 people died as from latest figures yesterday, not died from yesterday  PHEW

I still think it's a "storm in a glass of water' :) .

Possum you must be talking about deaths in Australia. We have 17 dead from swine flu in the UK alone as of today and they are projecting 100,000 new infections a week in the UK [ or is it a day?] by the end of next month. I don't know even a small village that has not got a case yet. I'm in the south west and it's only just got here in the last couple of weeks and spreading fast. Although a lot of people get a relatively mild dose. It's not even notifiable anymore as most people treat themselves at home and "tamiflu" is readily available. Also any attempts at containment has now been abandoned. It's coming and most of us worldwide will get it!

I still think it's a "storm in a glass of water' :) .
+1I think every smart person understanding for what this "game" is. Obv for sure nobody from here heard about 22 polish homeless people whom died in last year after took Swine Flu vaccine produced by Novaritis - biggest vaccine supplier to UK, Holland, Australia, France, USA. Even polish mass media silenced this case. Member of my family works in the health sector, and there is no doubt that it was murder (vaccines testing). "Homeless people die after bird flu vaccine trial in Poland":http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... oland.htmlThe best way to make profit is to make a problem, then amazingly discover a solution, and sell this to 3/4 countries of the World. France ordered 100.000.000 doses of vaccine,England 90.000.000.Australia 21.000.000.Holland 34.000.000 (Holland population is about 16.000.000)etc.what for ? Each year 1.600.000 people die from tuberculosis !. Cumulative Total number of confirmed cases of Swine Flu is 429 deaths. Little diffrence huh ?
