There is a big factory/place just outside Tukad Mungga [nr Lovina] sells and processes vanilla. I have been buying 2 or 3 Kilos [best quality] every time I come to bali. It is very popular with the retaurants when I get it back home. I usually pay about 300,000IDR a kilo. But I suspect I could get it for less.

I never found natural vanilla packaged in a way I felt comfortable enough to take thru customs. I found lots of excellent natural vanilla (amongst other wonderful spices), but as with all of them, bringing them back thru customs in their natural state is a no no. I could only find processed vanilla, even tho it was processed at and sold directly from the farm.
However, I have to admit that immersing myself to the eyeballs in spices is my absolute 'heaven-on-a-stick' of all things in life, not just when visiting Bali.

This is only natrually dried then vacuum sealed in kilo, see-through packs [fat 6-7 inch pods ,fresh] and I've had no problem taking through customs. Its a spice and its sealed.
Hope I havent been smuggling.
