i have satellite tv (indovision) installed in lovina does anybody know if i can add broadband internet to the system or is it a seperate entity ?
spitfire
as far as I know it's a separate unit unless Indovison now offers it too. You can check at their website. Otherwise I believe you need a bigger dish that will point at the satellite that can provide internet. You will need a card in your computer that can receive satellite signal and process the internet beam.

I have indovision too and a separate Satelite connection for my broadband. I paid 5juta for my tower and connection and 1juta for unlimited connection per month.I am very pleased with my server excellent service

i think its possible to get internet form indovision, but unfortunately this only exists in Jakarta and Surabaya (and maybe Jogja) at the moment...waiting for the day that this will be reality in Bali, supposedly its a good service and fairly cheap...

We had Indovsion installed this week and now it doesn't appear to be working. We have a message on the screen saying "Selamat datang di Indovision. Silahan tunngu sebentar"... But it has been about 20 minutes already. The power went off for a second just as we were coming in and I dont know if that effects it and we need to reset or somthing..
Hoping someone out there can help as I was looking forward to tonight's viewing! :D

Usually No...
The dish was already pointed and your account was already activated?
mimpimanis
Not sure abouth the account being Activated.. just found a number and called Indovision they are checking and said to wait...
As for the satellite dish I didnt check where he had put it till he left and I am not impressed - I was expecting it to be on a wall - but it is in the middle of the front garden. I called the next morning and asked them to move it and said I dont mind paying to move it but I was first told they couldnt and when I insisted it is not safe with children playing in the garden they then said they would call me when they have time to..... I am not expecting them to call back

You seem to have problems with all things electronic always. I am beginning to think the problem is with you :D :D :D

I think Mimpi was just upset because she missed out on seeing Sex and the city.....

Hi mimpimanis,
You say it is in the middle of the garden...is the dish on a solid underground?I mean not wobbly grass? The dish should be fixed onto a solid underground to have proper reception. If the dish is unstable(able to sink in to the ground) the alignment to the satelite is off.
If I remember correctly, when they installed it in my house there was no message on the screen.
He put in the card, pressed 'select your sattelite' (INDOVISION1)then, allign your disc..two para meters pop up...on the left signal strength, on the right Signal quality... on the bottom of the screen you see the berring(direction where the dish is pointing to). Signal strength should not read higher then 65 and the quality not higher then 40, for good reception of the signal. Then he exited the menu, and I could watch TV right away.
It sounds to me they have not yet activated your card, which goes into the slot of the receiver.
Indovision will call you to verify userinformation which is on your contract, phonenumber/last name/adress etcetc. But they called me after I could already watch tv for about 4 days.
When you decide to call Indovision, have the number of the card that went into the receiver next to you, by giving them that number they can activate your account right away, or at least that's the way it should be done by them.
Okidoki Mimpimanis, hope you'll get it working soon.
friendly greetings, Gilbert.

Well 3 calls later it seems they dont have my application form yet  And they wont activate it till they do. I have to fax my copy, and my receipt from the agent who installed it, tomorrow. Now that will be interesting because he has charged me an extra Rp130,000 for cable & somthing else.. that got added to my receipt but not to his copy underneath.
As for the antenna it is on the grass....
The store that installed it will be getting a call from me in the morning...
I cant even watch a dvd, he disconnected it when he connected the Indovision and Im not sure about reconnecting with the Indovision plugged in to the tv....
And to top it all my UK adaptor for my laptop just died so I am running on battery which lasts an hour tops....
So looks like an early night for me

Funnily enough when I called them this morning and said Indosat wanted me to fax my form & receipt... suddenly they wanted to come immediately to move the satellite dish for me  I was busy though so they are coming on Tuseday now.

So when they come make sure they show you how your DVD and Indovision can co-exist.
mimpimanis
For sure...Because we buy all the latest movies for Mimpi Manis and I usually watch them first....and I dont have the movie channels on indosat so I still want to be able to watch them.....That was one of my complaints :)
toucan
Mimpi you should be ok to reconnect the DVD to one of the spare AV inputs on the TV, most TVs these days have one on the front if you don't want to fiddle around on the back.

haha boys! Very funny! I know Im not good with electronic things.. I realised later why my adaptor wasnt working, when I unplugged it and moved upstairs, it left one pin in the socket downstairs ... I did manage to get it out without killing myself though!
And my Indosat was off because they hadnt had my application form from the agent who installed it.

Goldminer if SITC was on and they were episodes I dont have I would be watching it for sure... but I dont think its on at the moment. However I did get Indosat just in time for the new series of Heroes :D
