Lou
You are filling in an online form and unfortunately that can also be done automatically by spammers. The warped letter and number code is to prevent them from successfully submitting the form - that code is an image, not text, and warping it makes automatic decoding impossible. Their reason for trying to submit the form is to collect email addresses from the "thank you" page.
Getting a couple of hundred forms each day from x&*!9gh etc is even worse than the normal mail spam as somebody has to open each one of them. Even given all of that however some websites go completely overboard with the distorting.

Seems that everything you sign up for on the net these days you have to first think of a user name which always seems to be used so you end up with a kind of mixture of wot you originaly wanted plus a whole bunch of numbers and if its going to be an email user name you must be careful that the numbers dont amount to wot may be conscrued as your age ( dont we all still want to be young )
Ok so you finaly got a user name not wot you originaly wanted but hey its free so no complaints now you ve put in your secret password like open sesame yep cant forget that one so that will do nicely :?
Right just when you though you were in out pops the hiden hurdle the hardest one of all not to mention the strangest one...... the dreaded : COPY THE TEXT : Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
So now you are faces with a jumble of numbers all twisted uneven and to top it off wot looks like cracks across the text to throw your eyeballs down a rocky road !!!!!!!!!!!!
Wot bugs me is why on earth do they force people to go through an optical obstacle course that just prolongs the frustration :?:
I need answers :x
