Hi Roy,
I dont know , im confussed with this forum anyway, maybe my hormones !
U.S consular position. ??
Dont ask me, im just replying to your post. basically Hi Roy, welcome back and i hope this
time we can all get along, in some way !
and Happy New year to you and your family.
p.s maybe Mimpanis can advertise because its Indonesian business, but as i said,
I don't know .
Roy
First day back on this forum, after a month ban, and I post on the Expat Forum about an upcoming vacancy for the US Consular Agent in Bali. This was posted on the expat forum.
The new Mod, “Teddy” removes it three times, citing forum rules and regulations forbidding the advertising of jobs. We all know that Teddy is new, and is also self confessed to know nothing about Bali.
But hey! Removing this post about the position of US Consular Agent? What on earth is commercial about that??? What could be more potentially important to expats than their own Consular agent…their own contact with their government?
In the meantime, long time member Mimpimanis is allowed to link each and EVERY one of her posts to her homestay business, AND her own forum. I might wonder why this lady posts so much, but I already know!
Is this fair? Is this a level field of play? NO!
In all my six years plus, and almost 5,000 posts on this forum, I have NEVER used it, or even attempted to use it for my own personal commercial gain! Moreover, I have never had a problem posting a notice, e-mail, or warden message issued by either the US Embassy in Jakarta, the Consulate office in Surabaya, or the Consular Agent’s office in Denpasar, Bali. That I have now is total BS, and I am angry!
I will continue to make this post on the Bali Expat Forum for as long as I need in order to get this important message conveyed. If there was any level of reliable common sense by the moderators here in the first place, this post would not exist, and I wouldn’t have to waste my time posting the same information over, and over. That also makes me angry.
But…you tell me. Am I wrong in this, or right?

What is it that you think you know Roy? I post here like most people, because I want to.
For your information I have only ever had one guest from this forum, that I am aware of. Most of guests find us through the good reviews and special recommendations that we have in a number of guide books.
Here like all forums I belong to you are allowed to have links to your own websites in your signature.
Before your ban you asked me for a truce and yet here you are making personal attacks again. Welcome Back!

Roy,
The rules are simple. Ads go to
http://www.baliadvertising.net . Job ads, housing ads, whatever ads.
There has been a bit of "space" for anouncements for meetings by Bert in the past.
Regarding your critic on Mimpimanis, its simple. Active, helpful members with a substantial number of posts are allowed to promote their "own business" by means of a signature link, or otherwise. This has been the case as long as the forum exists. It in the rules somewhere.
I may not know as much about Bali as you do, but its not needed to enforce the rules, allthough you seem to think so.
You have been "back" for just a day, and already you have been unfriendly to me and others, and you seem to think that you don't have to live by the rules as anyone else, because you have a large number of posts.
Eventhough I have deleted your Job posts, you seem to think you can have your own way, by keeping to repost them, and you don't even make use of the other site. Just type bali jobs in Google, and you will find out that its better to use that site, than this one.
This is a warning. You have to live by the rules. If an admin deletes a post by you, don't post it again and again and again. And if you really need exceptions, try friendly instead.
You post has been deleted again. Become a member of the other site, and post it there.
If you keep on posting it here, you will be banned again, but to avoid that you have been put on moderation.

No problem, I can live with this. It's crystal clear what's up here, so I'll take my points elsewhere.

I already tried that with an e-mail to Bert.

Can you think of a more active, helpful member, who by the way has the largest number of posts than any other member past or present, than myself?
This is Bullshit! Just ban me forever and I'll re-activate my blog! This kind of shit, I do not need, nor will tolerate.

as they say, "the wolf changes his fur but not his habit" Mimpi.
You do not need to justify your business and where your clients come from.
Roy
You make me laugh Mimps! If you didn't have a free reign on links to your commercial endeavors, you wouldn't post half as much as you do. That's clear just by reading many of your posts!
But hey, I really didn't mean to pick on you personally, rather, you stand out as a perfect example of the disparity under which this forum has been run, and for tooooooo long. The idea that I cannot post a vacancy for the US Consular Agent for Bali on this forum, all the while you are including links to your homestay and forum, is simply nuttier than nuts!
No matter though, as I’ve turned on my Bali pod blog again, and I’ll have my say there, thank you all anyway. Cheers, and goodbye, because this place has already been fed to the dogs.

And by the way, and just for the record, all my posts since the first one which opened this string are being pre-moderated. In other words, my posts are pending “moderator” approval BEFORE they are published.
I get this e-mail notice that reads like this…
“Hello Roy,
You are receiving this notification because your post "Re: So, You Tell
Me…What’s Fair?" at "Bali Expat Forum - Bali Travel Forum" was approved by
a moderator or administrator.”
Oh, how wonderful!   My post was approved! :P
I wonder if I'll get another approved notice e-mail for this post?

The reason you cannot post job vacancies is listed in the rules and guidelines. And its not only you. Nobody can.
And also you have to stick to the rules.
The rules also state, that if you start blogging about the forum, you will be banned.
I repeat from the Rules:
h) Threatening other members in one or another way in order to "get it your way" is a nono This will intermediately lead to a ban. This includes aiding third parties in relaying threats.
i) Blogging or writing on other forums about (privately) obtained information from this forum, or revealing this information to third parties, will lead to a ban.
j) Critisizing the forum (or its management) on blogs or other forums while being a member, will lead to a ban. Solve your problems on the forum.
I kindly ask you to remove the blog, and post your job vacancies where they belong.
Roy's blog can be found here:
http://balipodblog.blogspot.com/
The tone of your messages reveal that you are angry, and you seem to think moderation is unfair, and aimed "specially at you", and you don't seem to understand the difference between "No Ads" and links in signatures.
I am sorry you feel treated unfairly, but you just dont understand.
And above that, you loose your temper, a bit too quickly.
You make me laugh Mimps! If you didn't have a free reign on links to your commercial endeavors, you wouldn't post half as much as you do.
No, If I didnt have unlimited access to internet I wouldnt post as much as I do.
I have made a lot of freinds through the forums I belong to. I have had forum members from both here and other forums stay with me as my guest (free) I am having dinner tomorrow night with one forum member and on Sunday I am taking another out for the day. (different forum)
So dont ASSUME you know what I am about!
Roy
Yes! I am ANGRY! Posting the position of Consul to Bali from the US, Mars, Venus, or Errekistan, or where ever else, is CLEARLY not a simple job opportunity posting!
It's freaking common sense that it BELONGS HERE on this forum!
This position is a vital link for ALL expats to their homeland, and to throw this in the pot of all other job applications is simply ABSURD!
But hey! If you, Bert, or anyone else wants to continue with this absurdity, I have no problem. Making this insanity public is about all I need to do, because NO ONE with a sane or logical mind would consider this important position, regardless of what country is represented, as commercial, superfluous, and simply belonging with all the other job opportunities.
The fact that I have to fight over something as obvious as this....YES, it does piss me off. And it really pisses me off! And I am Goddamn Angry! It's bloody OBVIOUS!
Moreover, no one has yet to explain why Mimpi can post a link to her commercial endeavors, while this post is REMOVED! Look up consistency in the damn dictionary! This disparity is simple bullshit, and I don't care how much perfume you pour on it, or try to disguise it...it is still bullshit!
So please, refrain from giving me your innuendo about rules, fair play, and my own personal flaw of getting angry in the face of fools! But, you are right, I don't suffer fools gladly, never have, and never will.
Roy
So dont ASSUME you know what I am about!
I'm not assuming anything! :P
Look, Mimps, while it may seem I’m “out to get you” I’m really not. I only draw attention to your free reign of linking your homestay and forum as a disparity when I cannot post about a position as important as US Consul Agent to Bali.
I’m sorry…I really am, but the disparity is undeniable, and painfully obvious, and unfortunately, your preferential treatment is in stark contrast to the treatment I received with this one simple post. I hope you can see my point because I wish you no ill, nor do I resent your ability to post your homestay, and forum links.
No matter how this is all resolved, in the end, I do hope you are able to continue to provide those links on your posts. At the same time, I hope I don’t have to constantly fight for some common sense and fair play around here.

In my opinion, Roy is correct. The post, as I understand it, sounds appropriate. It was not a cybercafe opening nor secretary but an important position for many expatriates. It should have stayed. Did someone complain about the post?
Heck, if my Bahasa was better, I might have applied!
Roy
"But, I also can appeciate (sic) why, NOW, Teddy cannot "back-down" on his decision."
Teddy is a SHE Daniel! I've been gone a month and I know that, so what's your excuse?
Sorry that I included the (sic), but with PhD’s...I expect they can spell correctly! :P
Happy to see me back, are you?

Obviously, Roy woke up this morning with a hair up his ass, and the exchanges with Teddy did not help in any way. Personally, I obviously was not party to any exchanges in the background between Roy and Teddy, from what I can read in this string, this is a "typical" case of misunderstanding, followed by both parties "digging in their heels."
Yes, there are the Forum rules which prevent advertizing of any kind. And yes, there is another platform for advertizing business opportunities. So, strictly speaking, Roy is wrong.
However, IMHO, this type of opening, US Consul Agent in Bali, is rather exceptional enough and of utmost interest to the whole Bali expat (or would-be expat) community to warrant an exception to the Forum rules concerning job advertizing. But, I also can appeciate why, NOW, Teddy cannot "back-down" on his decision.
My suggestion would be to simply make it know on this Forum that there is a position open for US Honorary Consul in Bali, and indicate that more details on this opening are available at
http://www.baliadvertising.net

Your threats about members of this forum on your blog are beyond appalling Roy.
Anger and bitterness are not a pretty sight.
What a shame.

Roy,
As a matter of fact, yes, I was glad you were back of the Forum.
1) I am surprised, given your universal knowledge, that you don't know that Teddy is a boy's name. As a matter of fact, the boy (now grown up) across the street is named Teddy. So FYI, Ted is an English boy's name, short for Theodore ("God's gift" in Greek) and for the English name, Edward. I am sorry but I am not as obsessed as you are about this forum and my standing on it, because I do have a life. So, if in the past it was mentioned or implied that "our" Teddy was a "she", well…big deal!
2)Typing and spelling are not part of my skills. When I received my Ph.D., these two "expertises" were not a requirement, and I used a proof-reader to go over my thesis' draft. But I was never so small as to feel the urge to correct people's spelling on this forum, or any other places, and that includes you on more than few occasions.
3) My last post was made in the spirit of mediation, because I honestly thought it was just a big misunderstanding which had escalated. I see I was wrong and I am sorry I got involved at all. I just learn again that when an animal is rabid, no matter how sorry one may feel for its predicament, it must be put out of its misery.

On another thread Freo said
How is such a topic not of interest to expats living in Bali? How is it of a commercial nature? Posting did not benefit the poster in any way, and could potentially benefit the expat community in Bali.
In my opinion it has little to do with the post made but how Roy dealt with it - resulting in personal attacks and threatening to expose peoples personal information and how he would use that against them. We have seen that from him time & time again. SHould we all be afraid to post here in fear of how it may be used against us later on Roy's blog?
It may be quiter the last month but at least there have been no cat fights!
JohnnyCool
Holy crap! What a debacle.
Mr Roy, possibly the most prolific forum-poster of all time, is shedding his skin, again. Or so it seems.
I have seen various battles in the past on this forum, involving the inimitable Roy. Does this mean a return on his part to savagely putting down all those posters here whom he thinks he has axes to grind with? Is Mr Roy really Mark Austin in disguise?
I think bolli says it all succintly:
Your threats about members of this forum on your blog are beyond appalling Roy.

Watch your backs, everyone. Be prepared to be denigrated ferociously.
Definitely a waste of good talent.
A shame, indeed.
