Well we have all heard of Computer Viruses but what about Parasites?I was having some problems with my laptop yesterday. It would not do anything I wnated it to and I got on to a technical help forum I belong to.The suggestion was that I probably had some "Spyware" in my system & I was recommended Spybot Search & Destroy which I downloaded Free of Charge (make a donation if you want) It found 163 parasites in my system!!! Once removed all my problems were gone. This was all news to me. Many sites we enter & software we download embed spyware in our systems to re route us to the sites they want us to visit, to keep track of the internet sires we visit to help target popups and someteimes they cause the sorts of problems I was having.Well worth investigating :)

Mimpi,You should seriously question why you have MS Windoze. As a former operating systems software engineer (for 17 years) I would not be caught dead with that sorry excuse for an operating system. I would bet that at least half of that "spyware" you found was written by MS or their hirlings. You should at least get rid of Outlook Express which is written to be scriptable and thus is an open invitation to viruses and whatever.Ken

MS WindozeHi PongkenI am not sure about MS Windoze?? When I got my laptop I had the option the first time I switched it on of having Windows 98 or Windows XP. Everyone recommended 98 over XP. The laptop said once I made my decision I could not change my mind. So that is why I have MS windows.Although I have Outlook & Outlook express on my laptop I do not use them as I do not use my ISPs email address but another one. Should I still get them off the machine? Thanks for the adviceMimpi

Mimpi,By "MS Wndoze", I mean Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Do not use Outlook Express if you want to avoid viruses.Ken

Windows is fine, don't worry, you will always find some "idealistic" people that proclaim that windows and outlook are the worst thing you can have on your PC. Don't listen to them, have an updated virus scanner, take care with "free great fine marvelous software" like kazaa, and software that says that it can remove other parasites, because they may install their own parasite. And now back to the subject overhere, my wife and I wanted to buy some CD's but all warungs were closed. There had been a police raid for illegal copied music, unforunately. Well i guess that in a week they are back with their 5000 rupiah CD's, but it would be a pitty if CD's (and DVD's) would become more expensive....Easy to get cheap CD's and DVD's in Lombok?a happy windows and outlook user for years, 8) :(don't start pongken !)

CDs & DVDsHi BertI dont have a DVD player but I only see originals around not copies and they seem to be Rp80,000-100,000.We have a VCD player and VCDs are what we rent in the kiosk. Copied movies are from Rp12,000 in the market Rp15,000 in Planet disk. We tend to buy them from the shop cause they will change them if they are faulty and we get a discount for bulk buying too. Most of the movies we buy are originals though. The Indian movies which are the most popular for renting can be bought for as little as Rp20,000.We charge between Rp2,500-4,000 for rental for two nights. Copies in the lower class bracket & expensive original movies in the higher. Can I now claim to be "in the movie business" ??
