The Balinese religion is also known as Agama Tirtha (Religion of Water) and when one goes to the temple, there will be Tirtha blessing after a prayer. Or when one goes Melukat (an act of cleansing either at home or at the Balian or at the High Priest's place), one must use water and flowers. This particular mix of water and flowers for melukat is called Kumkuman (maybe different in other places).
The frangipani trees are in flowers at the moment here. This reminds me so much of my time in Bali, of gathering flowers for offerings and the smell of them combined together. Today I gathered some frangipani flowers, some jasmines, pandan leaves and roses and made some kumkuman water with the intention to use it for a self-administered melukat this evening. The smell was gorgeous and for a moment I was transported back to Bali.
But no sooner had I put this bowl of water and flowers on the table and took a photo to share here, my very curious cat decided that she too likes flowers. So when I wasn't looking, she hopped on the table, dipped her paw into the bawl and drank some of the water. She was quite pleased with herself and seems to enjoy the taste of this fragrance water. Oh, well I just have to gather some new flowers for myself!
This was funny and thought I would share it here.

My cat enjoying it, maybe she too thought she needed to do the melukat :D
She then proceeded to fish out the pink rose, I never knew that a cat also loves roses!!

Thankyou Kadek,, and yes, lucky the cat didnt get to your salted fish dish yesterday too !

Yes, my cat is sweet but also very cheeky.
And Chilli, I did give her to try the salted fish - she also didn't like it, preferring her tuna instead . Smart cat
btw how is your dog Mimpi Manis? I hope he? is okay now.
Thanks

Thanks Kadek. I went to visit him yesterday and the infection seems to have dried up & the swelling and his temperature are down but they still want to keep him for a few more days until the infection has cleared up completely. He went totally crazy when he saw us and between Marty's tears and Janjis crying when we left I don't know which was worse. But at least he appears to be on the mend and should be home soon. :)

That is good news Mimpi, but why do they need to keep him at the vets ? is he on some type of antibiotic drip or something?
mimpimanis
The vet's is over an hour's drive from me. The first day I went there it was an hours drive each way, a two hour wait to be seen and then an hour being seen. As he got worse I went back two more days on the trot and though the waits and treatment werent as long it is still ver boring for a two year old, in tow. That and I had to clean his face with anticeptic twice a day and apply cream. At that point it was so swollen and sore he just wouldnt let me near it and I couldnt do a good job. And the infection was just getting worse. I am hoping I will be able to bring him home tomorrow, I will still need to treat the demodex and just have to make sure he doesnt get any more infections.

Although one would rather have one's pets at home rather than boarded at the veterinerian, in many circumstances, the people at the vet know how to handle the pet better to treat them, gently but firmly, and it brings better results. Hope your doggy gets better fast. :)

Thanks Tintin
You are absolutely right. I was worried that in not cleaning the infection as well as it should be I was partly to blame for it getting worse. Infact it was me that asked if they would keep him in to treat him.
I am finally picking him up tomorrow. The infection has dried up but I will have to bring him back weekly for a while to treat the demodex. We are all looking forward to having him back home. :)
