what if you get a disease while living on Bali, is it possible to get an insurance for health cost?? what insurances are possible on Bali? Does anyone knows a homestay for rent or for sell in Bali? Frank

Frank, there are quite a few reputable insurance agencies here on Bali that can arrange medical insurance for you, customized to your needs. The most important coverage to have is without question, emergency medical evacuation insurance. Most expats here use either Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore or Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok. Both are excellent but Bumrungrad is the most popular. As for finding an agent, consult the Bali Advertiser, which is free and available all over Bali.

Ciao Luchino! I know you're Italian but with a name like that it usually belongs to the aristocrats. Are you? Why don't you take the International one such as Bupa instead of the local or the Italian one. But perhaps others here could suggest otherwise as they live or visit Bali more frequently.

Hi Luchino, Are you asking about Travel Insurance or another type of insurance that is required while living in Bali? If Travel Insurance, I would assume it would be best to purchase a policy before you leave Italy. Cheers, Shaz

Coming in January and hadn't bought insurance yet With this ash cloud they obviously wont cover it now. When will they start covering again? Do they wait till the ash goes or eruptions stops? I have read somewhere on here it lasted 18months the last time but i have also read it only lasted a few weeks. Anyone any experience of this?

I can not understand your concern. It is November. You have mentioned coming here in January. Despite all the media hype in Australia, there are planes flying in and out of Bali. I flew out of Bali on Sunday (6 days ago) and back in on Wednesday. I then flew out on Thursday and back in a lot later that night. Not really worried about getting in as all airlines operating except virgin and Jetstar as Ive realised Cant really figure out why they are not flying people in must be a financial thing scared to leave people the or not carrying enough fuel

I just went to get my check up with the Doctor and all looks fine. He wrote me a prescription for three drugs. When I went to the Farmasi at Siloam they gave a lame excuse that BPJS would only pay for one of the drugs. They said I was above or below the requirements for them to pay and I would have to buy the other two. It seems like a typical story about insurance companies. They want your monthly payment, but when they have to pay they find an excuse not too. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

At least you are still above ground. What is the general expectation of your health? Do you have now to do regular check ups? How is your mobility? Are you able to get around without a stick or frame? Are you back at Padang Bai? That set of stairs up to the first floor are a killer. You were talking of moving? Hi Harryopal, thank you for your concern! Yes I have been doing monthly checkups and it seems the surgery was a success so my heart is working normal again. I have to work on my mobility still after being bed ridden with all the troubles. I practice walking everyday and when I go to the hospital and markets for food I use a cane for stability. Unfortunately the stairs in Bali are a hill to climb you might say! In The States they have to be built to code and only so high. That is not in the system here. I had to move to a clinic near Mengwi for assistance. It's a nice place except the rent is taking all my pension. The rent is RP. 19,500,000 a month! Hopefully in a few months I can find a cheaper adequate place near Ubud. It has more amenities I need and want now. Plus people speak English! I hope you are well. Peace

Just thought ,there is a retirement village american owned, based in north bali , within your budget ,ya its not ubud , [HEADING=2]The Retirement Village at Tegallinggah - North Bali , [/HEADING] If I hear of anything else I will let you know speedy recovery .
