abemoon question for mimpimanis as i see you have a homestay in lombok i'm curious about the surf breaks there. i'll be locating to bali next feb to build my house and retire and enjoy the good life and part of that for me is to get back into surfing. i am a longboarder and started up here in australia the allgirls surfriders club which is still powering along 17years later. i hope to get a group of girls on a surf trip each year maybe to do a boat trip and find some breaks that are suitable so we wont be out of our comfort zone ie. not 6 foot reef breaks and board and body breaking. my friend suze who is a yoga teacher from maroubra is taking over a group to lombok this week for 10days practising yoga in the mornings and surfing rest of day, she did this for the first time last year and was such a success its happening again. so if you can offer any advice on suitable surf breaks we might be able to sort out something with accomodation would your place be suitable? i've heard of a newzealander who has a surf camp at ekkas bay? would like to get own trip organised though. thanks keryn
mimpimanis Hi Keryn Heaven on the Planet is the place at Ekas. I am not a surfer and dont speak surftalk, despite so many of our guests being surfers. I can put you in touch with Kimen though that owns the surf shop in Kuta. It is the first and most famous of Lomboks surf shops and Kimen is a mine of information about the local surf. Im interested to know about the trips your freind does as my best friend from UK has bought land in Lombok and plans to build a yoga retreat, though the foundations have already been built completion is a way off. As for Mimpi manis accomodating the groups. We only have the two rooms and the house, so only 6 comfortably, 2 in each. Long term we will be building more rooms, maybe not even so long term it seems as we are now bing forced to sell some of our land to the government to widen the road, we may use that money to start building. I will get back to you when I look up Kimens details.
abemoon here is the website the yoga group are in lombok from july 6 - 15th and the website has a link to the trip from last year. actually suze has many pics of her surfing so should check with her about breaks as well. will look forward to your info, cheers http://www.maroubrabeachyoga.com
nikita7 If someone knows where can i find sandy beaches for surfing in Lombok? i am a newbie in surfing, I have heard that Kuta in Bali is good enough for a start, but the amount of people waiting for waves makes me feel uncomfortable. Therefore i am looking for pretty much the same ocean landscape. Is Kuta in Lombok ok? I heard its not quite good liiking beach. Does anyone has photos to share? i will be very much thankful! Best regards!
nikita7 Surfing Lombok surf atlas by GlobalSurfers all spots have reef breaks:icon_rolleyes: it means that for newbies reefs are a bit dangerous when you fall from a surfboard cause you may hit them.. what spots in lombok have sandy ocean landscape? i just do not believe that lombok is only for good riders.. is it possible to place there find for a start? something like kuta, bali i mean.
