Broadband internet in Bali

Hi, has anyone had heard of/subcribed to Blueline wireless, broadband internet in Bali? (http://www.blueline.co.id) If so, what do you think of the serivce? Rgds Wm

As far as I know they are not in operation yet. There is however another company, in operation, that does the same kind of thing: http://www.globalxtreme.net/ I have seen this working, I thinks it works good if your are in their service area. Singaraja is about 90km too far for them :cry: <add>I see you post this from a broadband jakarta connection, any chances trowing a line downhere?</add>

Well I didn't buy the telkom flexi phone.... There are some technical problems I heard and its horribly expensive. It 5 rupiah per kilobyte, and its supposed to do 29kb per second at max speed. So at max speed its 8700 rp per minute (1.7 megabyte) and thats 522.000 rupiah per hour (102 megabyte) !!! Ofcourse you will never surf at max speed all the time, but still for a megabyte download you pay 5120 rupiah... Too expensive for me.

[b]internet access Bali[/b] Hi all, What possibilities are there for internetaccess when I take my pda& wifi card or GPRS phone with me to Bali for a short stay of say 4 weeks?Or am I best of to just go to an internet cafe? I would like to be online most of the day, say on standy and be able to check mail 1nce and hour. Thanks John

I have a O2 XDAII and I use it with Telkomsel to check my mail, can even read this forum with it, but you need a subscription, pre-paid won't work... Tourists cannot get a telkom subscription, unless sponsored by a local....

Bert, do you still use this XDAII? I am using a T-Mobile MDAIII (XDAIII) with a Matrix paket silver 200.000 a month for 50MB GPRS usage. I can connect to internet with my phone (although not very stable), but I cannot connect using my laptop and the MDA as a dial up modem. I can establish a connection with the laptop and gprs, but no server ip is given out. If I use my wife's Nokia 6310 to dial up it works fine. Indosat tells me it's a general problem with pda phones and can't help me. Did you ever use your XDA as dial up modem?

a question: is Starone avaible on Bali? Sorry, I don't know that. That is the same like Telkom Flexi Trendy (=Prepaid via CDMA). Starone comes from IndoSat (take a look at http://www.mystarone.com, if I remember that right). There it is possible to get a Internet package for 200,000.00 IDR with 1 GB Traffic (monthly, maybe without PPN). The speed is here in Surabaya better then with Flexi. But as I already said: I am not sure if this is avaible on Bali. Tom

Katschi, starone does even have a unlimited package, I remember that was arround 250.000 per month but anyway, its not availlable in bali yet. Spitfire, Matrix also have a unlimited usage package. I used it about 10 months ago still got a gprs pcmcia modem here somewhere. However I was very dissapointed about the speed and uptime.

Hi Sander, Starone was offering this unlimited package until 30. June 2005. I wanna register for that at 28th June 2005 and Starone-office at Surabaya told me that this is not possible. The product unlimited package will be not avaible again after 1. Juli 2005. Instead of this the wanna offering packages like 200,000.00 IDR for 1 GB the month. And I think that the same is for other IndoSat products using unlimited packages. But I am not sure. Tom
