Ooops...
It was fascist.....
No, not people called Allan so, but Allan called others a fascist...

Good points Thorsten. Best wishes for a great time with Kadek in your home, Germany.
Bert, it sounds like your approach is reasonable, especially in light of the fact that Markit has admitted, and in writing, to flaming.
I suspect that I’ll be speaking for a lot of folks by saying it’s great to get this finally behind us.
Now, how do we get Allan back?

look it's no secret that i've butted heads with allan many times..
i do think it's a tad hypocritical of him to throw a tantrum after having a post of his nuked for what was clearly a personal attack - one of the very same justifications he used in his nuking of so many other contributor's postings under the old structure..
that said, i was surprised to learn of his departure and i'd like it to be known that though i was the one being called a fascist, i didn't report the post and actually didn't realize it had been nuked until i read this thread..

Dear People,
First of all, I would like to mention that, as far as I can recall, there has not been a single report filed about Markit posts, and it is simple. Just press the exlamation button...
See the post about "Democracy on the Forum" in the members section.
Someone did file reports about Allan calling people a facist, and therefore these posts where removed. This made Allan so angry, so he wanted to be removed, sadly enough...
I always felt Markit's posts where ironic or sarcastic, but maybe I have been wrong, and therefore Markit has been put on moderation. His posts will not appear without my approval for the time being.

It's a real shame as reading the two contentious threads you contributed recently to....there were actually three very good separate threads that could have been discussed, albeit it an open and non-contentious way (1) pedophilia in Asia (2) prostitution (3) western/Asian marriage.
That's not to say there would not have been 'robust' discussion but sadly any real discussion was lost.
Sorry to say this Bert,
but when in consequence of this “report/ denunciation feature” - and btw, it is simply absolutely ridiculous to blame Allen being racist – an appreciated member of this forum feels forced to go, then the thing is better to avoid and just to add, you, as the admin of this forum should also not simply delete postings, only for a complaint.
Ironically enough, that Allan got so angry due to one of his postings was nuked, I liked him for his contribution to this forum, although I had (like others) problems with his moderation style, which I discussed with him (mostly) privately, we had some disagreements in the past, but those discussions have been always led with respect and politely – so I regret see him going.
Markit is another topic – this guy has nothing at all to contribute to this forum, he also has no intention to learn something, rather provoking and getting into personal clinches with other members, it is not his opinion which is annoying, but much more the way he is acting on this forum, disrespectful, insulting and provoking.
For his travel reports – has anybody realised, that except tintin, nobody on this forum gave him any special hints regarding his Bali trip?
He had the chance to get a lot of insider information on this forum and without any doubts he could have had the chance to get a different impression of Bali, special locations, special events, the chance to meet some people, but he missed this chance!
Best regards

Thanks Roy for the good wishes and my best regard to Eri too.
(Would certainly be very much fun, to confront Markit with her discussing the “nailing the dishwasher” thesis!)
Guess I missed this post, but anyway.
Balilife, like I already stated I wasn’t happy with Allan as a mod here, but never less he was a great contributor to the forum and probably took his responsibility as a mod a bit too serious, what I have learned in all these years on this forum is, there are always real people behind the nicks and I’ve also met a lot of them already personally, maybe this should be considered before firing a personal offending, this is also not a kiddie forum, where this behaviour is part of the fun!
The terminology used in your hitten by a bus comment was also a bit over the top, so don’t wonder when this will cause a similar reaction!
Josefk is 100% right, the recent topics could have been an interesting discussion, unfortunately these things are now more and more leading into ping pong matches, which is rather boring and also a waste of time to get involved in, so I understand Gemma’s point’s as well.
Best regards

i respect your viewpoint thorsten, but my comment about the bus was in response to what i considered a snide attack by allan whereby he stated something to the effect that it was a shame that i didn't take personal offense to markit's postings, even though my posting raised my objection to markit's comments. i had illustrated that i didn't feel personally offended to display that one who isn't on the receiving end of can attack can still raise objection to it in an unbiased manner. as i said, i found allan's response rather snide and therefor responded. furthermore, i've had my fair share of posts nuked by bert - so when i post a personal attack, as we sometimes do in the heat of the moment, i'm aware that it could be nuked, as was allan's.
my last post on this thread was intended to imply (which i think it does), "well no i didn't like the guy, but i was surprised to see him leave and i had no part in getting his posting removed..".. i didn't want it to be a case of kicking him on his way out.. but since you've raised this, i'll note that i also find it typical of allan that he made the ridiculous comment about "leaving this forum to the likes of markit and balilife" - a comment that has no substance whatsoever - it implied i'm somehow supportive of markit's viewpoints and furthermore suggested that markit and myself have been given more rope than any other posters on this forum - two very false implications..
with that said, though i'm not asking for him to return, our guffs aside, i also enjoyed his postings and like i said, was surprised to see him leave..
