Jimbo
Well so far I have done two weeks on in Kazakhstan, two weeks off in the Uk and now am back in Kazakhstan before going home for 12 dats for Xmas and New Year.Sounds good so far because on top of the time off I have been paid, however......................It is one of the most lonely work places I have ever been. My day starts at 05.45 when I get up do all the usual things and then go to work for 7am. My office is in a company where all speak Russian and very few speak English apart from my translator. I go for lunch on my own and there is no menu I can understand so it is pot luck what I eat. Fortunately there is a set menu so at least I get a balanced diet if not always what I want.At 18.30 I go back to my hotel which with the traffic is almost an hour away. The food here is terrible and consists of left overs from lunch. I could go out but the weather is freezing and there is my lack of knowledge on where to go.The hotel si not great, clean but basic with only BBC world channel in English. That goodness for my trusty lap top where I have stored some films and lots of music.I do not know how long I will last as I still have an open offer to go to Saudi but the compensation is the vacation time and of course the money. I also hate to fail at anything. Tonight I am meeting an old friend so that may help and as I get to know the city, the language and the improvement that come with a change in the weather it may well turn out to be ok.At least I hope so. :-)
