Does anybody know if you can obtain a original (copy) from some government department of a birth certificate. My partner needs a copy of his sons birth certificate for his visa application and he has not seen his wife or son for 6 years.
He is from Makassar.

Taking to my wife the first stage was the "Akte Kelihiran" from the Hospital, This was taken to the local registrar at the"Kantor Sipil". She believes that to obtain a copy the father with proof of Fatherhood would have to declare the certificate lost and apply for a new one making a civil declaration notorised.
Many here in the remoter parts of south sulewesi do not even have birth certificates and there is a current campaign to ensure all babies are given one. I will make further enquiries to find out.
