Hi ..... thanks .....I have read the rules and regulations......If this was a football / soccer game...and you read back through all the posts, if you are fair and Honest and stuck to these rules.....How many red cards should have been given out?.....No just one.....maybye im wrong....
Bert Vierstra
There will be plenty of yellow ones before the red ones....
matsaleh
In fact, there WERE plenty of "yellow cards" sent previously and if truth be told, I'm sure even Roy would agree that sufficient warning was given.
Bert Vierstra
Well in Adelaide, maybe you can enlighten us now ;)
My criticism on Roy was not his "honesty" but the way he "presented" this.
I just asked him (for a long long time) to respectfully disagree, instead of bluntly calling people stupid or something.
I can understand people miss him, because he was quite a phenomena, but I also understand the people who don't miss him at all.
He finally made the choice himself to "leave", but no doubt I would have made him go anyway, and I have been begging him, literally, to behave, but he just couldn't.
And please, can we now stop the "Where is Roy" posts?
InAdelaide
I was reading this forum years before joining, and got a lot of worthwile information from it, and a lot of that came from heated discussions and people getting into heated debates.
I can still remember people on here praising Roys contribution when he reached his major milestone on the number of posts.
the Red card was refering to comments that Jamie made....if Roy was red carded why wasnt Jamie....but I believe its better to let people have there say....
sanatizing what people can say on this forum may please many people, and make them feel good ,but if they are really coming to bali to live and become an expat better to see or read a bit of the truth about Bali.
What i got from reading the froum was that there is no set rules in Bali, it is very diverse, and is not an easy place to live, but is a great place to live.
I have been living here for 1 year now have 3 shops and nine 8 staff....all funded from income made from being in bali....I used bits of information that I picked up over time from reading this foum......most of it probably came from Roys stings, but from sanuriam too and the ocassional bit from Bert.
Most Expats and Indonesians dont want to share information, just take an opertunity to make money
One thing Roy was very open ,
bolli
and really..

what a lot of crappola.
Sanurian
Bolli's "crappola" comment aside, (which I agree with), I believe it is time to let sleeping dogs die (or is that "lie"?).
Like Bert says:
...please, can we now stop the "Where is Roy" posts?
Amen to that! Time to move on.
JAMIE
....I guess you guys are right , time to move on and all . But I dont have to like it ! I miss him too .

Because:
Foul language to moderator.
Not following the rules. Repetitive nagging people about their identity.
Blackmail attempts.
Insulting members of this forum
In case Roy again fails to follow the rules after his return, a 2 month ban.
If Roy start blogging about us, a permanent ban.

Re: Roy Banned for one Month
I hope that all can be resolved Bert but I am so glad that we are back on line. I definately get withdrawal symptoms without my daily dose of this forum.

Yes, withdrawal symptoms, strange isn't it?
This forum is doing some good somewhere :)
Roy said, see you in one month, he will not start blogging.
Maybe I let him loose again sooner...

Re: Roy Banned for one Month
A wonderful post, Jimbo
You said it very well.
...There are those here who do not like his style but in their own way can bait him like a red rag to a bull...
I am one of those, I guess. Several months ago I tried to appeal to Roy's 'better nature' via some PMs. We agreed to a kind of 'truce' and things seemed to be fine...for a while.
The latest fiasco reminds me of the current Israeli/Palestinian 'cease-fire' along the Gaza strip. That didn't last long. I hope the 'border agreements' on this forum fare better.
:D

Re: Roy Banned for one Month
Cough, cough...ehemm!!...
Me, Roy!! I leave it to your conclusion.
Jimbo, it's nice of you to write that.
Bert, I know you're a softie at heart.

Re: Roy Banned for one Month
If you are the heart of this forum Roy is it's soul. I believe since you let him back last time he has tried really hard to conform but Roy will always be Roy and from time to time will go off the rails. He I believe is perfect for the old saying about anger in heat and repent at leisure. He does repent :D
There are those here who do not like his style but in their own way can bait him like a red rag to a bull but we need all types and all opinions in here because that is what makes this forum so great.
It is the best of all those out there and is a truly international forum not just a discussion group for local concerns. This is down to you Bert. In the bad days of Roy's blog he missed it so much he about turned to get back in.
All of those other regular contributors also are this forum and those that visit and go after getting their questions answered are part of it also.
Like all families there will be arguements from time to time and the head of the house has to sort it out but at the end of the day it is that part of us all that keep coming back that is important.
I love it because it gives me that slice of Bali on a daily basis that I cannot have just yet but even more importantly it gives me the chance to have the opportunity to hear the different points of view and place my own.
Thanks
