After 4 months of messing around with warranty service, we have a dish-washer that works. But the detergent that came with it does not go far. This week we visited Carrefour and Tiara Dewata but drew a blank in both supermarkets. Staff looked puzzled and said they did not have it -- although it is possible it is there somewhere. Any hints/pointers will be very welcome.
Thanks

Have you given Alpha or Hero a try?

Try GOURMET GARAGE at Jimbaran.
I saw some there about a month ago.

A dishwashing machine in Bali, that's a good one! Where do you perform your standup, I'de love to catch your act :-). I don't know of any sizable restaurants here that have d/w machines. Did you import it?

This has to be the most guyu-guyu I have read on the Forum bar none

C'mon tin tin, is that the best you can do?? I thought you'd be all over this guys ass on this one.
Not only is he putting someone out of a job by having a dishwasher, but they are incredibly heavy on water usage, almost as much as.......nah, I can't say it......
ronb, I gotta say I'm with DCC on this one - how did you end up with a diswashing machine in Bali?? There's gotta be a story behind this one.

Let's say that I was left speechless...

Thanks for the leads, particularly Gourmet Garage will be on our agenda for next trip south. Glad also to be causing amusement and speechlessness. Other short answers, purchased in Bali, and water consumption is hardly a problem.

Hi rond,
I have recovered my speech...
Congratulations on your new dishwasher. I must say that your dishwasher even beats Roy's elevator in his new house.
froggy
Roy does not have an elevator in the new house, he has a place to put one some day, he does have a really great big cool kitchen!!

Sorry, I thought he had built it along with the rest of his house. He talked about it several times.

The stairs going up to the 3rd floor are a death trap.(built in security?) really nice room up there though, would have liked to seen it ( the house)finished before I left. mabey I can talk him into a few pics.....

Plenty of expats (and wealthy Indonesians) in Jakarta have dishwashers - and pembantu's to load and unload them. Having a dishwasher doesn't necessarily take a job away from a local. Who wants to unload a dishwasher after all

How true! Great observation Sanurian.

There is a chance that your dish-washing fluid is somewhere on the shelves of those places.
Did you look in the section next to sardines?
Maybe in the imported foods section.
Car accessories, perhaps?
What about the company you bought your dish-washer from in the first place? Maybe they know something.
ACE Hardware in Kuta stocks all kinds of esoteric stuff.
Could be worth a try.
Although, I bought an electric grass cutter machine from them a while ago. The replacement 'fishing line' they had in stock for the thing was the wrong thickness.
On a more serious note...Have you checked what the actual ingredients are that make up dish-washer detergent?
You might find that they're nothing all that special and available from chemical suppliers at 1/10th the price.
But - you'll have to mix them yourself.
Try it - do a Google search for home-made dish-washer detergent. You never know.
