New to Forum looking at schools for my girls

Hello Everyone We are from Australia and we wil be arriving in Bali at the end of the year . I am looking at any info anyone can give me regarding schools for my girls to start in 2008. Does anyone know of any Homeschool teachers in Kuta/Tuban area ? I am interested in any information about Dyatmika School in sunur? THank you :P

I have visited Dyatmika School and was very impressed. It is well resourced, has nice grounds, good airy classrooms and the teachers are excellent. I like that most who have children there do so because the kids will grow up knowing each other and be able to network in the future, unlike the International Schools where the students may only be there 1 or 2 years. They do have a website.

Welcome to the Forum, Sunshine. I agree with Bolli, Dyatmika is a great school. We'll be moving to Bali too (now delayed to probably summer 2008) but when we do move, our 5 yr old boy will be going to that school I think. We visited the school last year and were very impressed. Kids that go there tend to be there for many years, so it's great for building friendships! Good luck with your move! I wish our move hadn't been delayed....... :x

Thank you all for your helpful advise regarding schooling :D One more question about schooling is there anyone in the kuta/Tuban area that knows of a school teacher that teachers a small group of students from her home like home school ? Does anyone know of any Dancing Music schools for children ? :P Thank you

There is a French woman I spoke to earlier this year before we arrived. She lives in Seminyak and was looking at teaching groups of kids in a homeschool style environment. I have no idea if she continued to progress this as we decided to send the kids to Sunrise when they said they wanted to meet more children. I am pretty sure I came across her name in the Bali Advertiser - could try putting in a free ad asking for others interested in homescholling or a teacher wanting to teach a small groupto contact you. Cyn & Sunshine, We moved to Bali in March this year with our four kids - before that we were homeschooling them in Singapore. They have been going to Sunrise as they wanted to be back at school where they could build some friendships. I am extremely happy with the school asare the kids. Our oldest son has just moved from Sunrise to AIS (he is 15) because they only go to Year 9. The school provides a more holistic education than most schools. They focus on environmental issues, the kids spend time in the organic gardens that support the Sunrise organic market, and have yoga and meditation as part of their curriculum. There is a strong emphasis on social responsibility. We have been living as expats for the past 10 years and have experience of other international schools (not in Bali). I have visited all the schools before deciding on Sunrise and felt it was the closest to the education we were providing in homeschooling previously. There is also a new Gandhi school which just opened a few weeks ago. Very impressive campus and the philosophy of the school is fantastic - when I visited it was too early tobe able to really determine how the atmosphere was going to be as it was on the opening day. As well there is another school opening next year - the KulKul school which is a Waldorf based curriculum. Best of luck with your move, Nikki

I am interested in any information about Dyatmika School

Hi Sunshine, My daughter is at Dyatmika, having moved from another international school earlier this year, which we were not happy with (but shall remain nameless) and both she and ourselves love it. It's really bought her out of herself. We found the other school didn't offer the depth of commitment Dyatmika can, as many of the kids are rather transient and a little spoiled (and shall we say a little 'out of control' as they get older). Certainly she's going ahead in leaps and bounds educationally since she moved, and feeling far more challenged. Dyatmika has a web site here. Ibu Katie Jones, the director, is very approachable if you want to talk to her. BTW its not in Sanur but slightly north in Ketewell
