[b]RE: where to get a[/b] I can see what you mean Sanurian. I wasn't here in the 70's yet - I barely could walk on my own back then - but the ladies naked from waist up you can still see today! Really! We have plenty of old grandmas running around like this in Kerobokan - unfortunately all in their 60's or 70's. Tough view, especially after breakfast. Bet they didn't look better back then as well. ;-)

Sure, you can still see older ladies, here and there...the younger ones are harder to find. I hope I didn't give the wrong impression with my post. The 'good ol' days' have gone. ([i]From a male's romantic point of view.[/i]) Enough said about that. Maybe more later...Where are those photos again? :shock:

Just remembered...an a[i]ddendum[/i]: Some Balinese/Javanese/Sundanese friends of ours tried to get me drunk with whiskey, arak and beer. Young people can be like that. We're still dealing with one of them who has definitely lost the plot. I took his motorbike key off him. Not sure yet, but maybe I should 'adopt' him, or something. (Just joking.) Or am I? :lol:

Warung Sobat: If you follow the "Bali Sani Suites Hotel" sign you can't miss it. Its on the rhd side of Jl Batubelig. Hidden behind trees and plants-so better drive slowly :-). Regards Werner

You know I was just thinking, if someone posted "Where could I get great pork spare ribs in Lombok" I think the answer would be - you can't. With so many restaurants in Bali offering steak it just goes to show how much Bali caters to the tourist. I wonder who prepares and cooks these steaks? Surely not Balinese. :(

Last night we went to a new french restaurant in Jl Pantai Brawa-near to Canggu Club. At the menue we found a 250g Kobe Steak. We didn't order it cause the price of 570.000 was beyond my budget :-( Does anybody now wherelse I can find a Kobe Steak here? Regards Werner

My 2 cents... Kobe is overrated; sure it is a nicely marbled breed, but the only reason why it shines is bacause all usda prime beasts (only 2% of all US certified beef falls into this category) are sold commercially, to high end establishments.. I love a blue rib eye.. It's very hard for a restaraunt in bali to get their hands on these grades of beef, usually they're buying choice or select grades which is what flows down to us plebs in the supermarkets.. I'm an aussie, and I must say, as a steak lover, australian beef doesn't make the grade.. Aussies tend not to like a decent marbling (not all aussies) and the steaks are consumed in far too soon after slaughter... But that said, I'd kill for a braised aussie lamb shank right now.. Hard to come across in canada.. (U can buy nz spring lamb shanks in a supermarket for $11/kg).. Ct

Hi, “guest”. You are watching a very old thread about steaks. If you’d like to have a fantastic steak in Sanur, try The Clubhouse. Excellent internet, very tastefully appointed place, (for a Harley “bikie” joint - all very friendly), no added taxes to the bill, good bar. The only negative is that it’s a little tricky to get to, but once you’ve found it, you’ll probably be back again. The easiest approach is from a small lane a few metres south of Hardy’s. Turn right and walk about 100 metres. It's on the left-hand side. You could ride a motorbike this way, but I wouldn’t suggest that for the first time. I'm digressing ....but two nights ago we went to Char Char Grill in Jl Laksmana in Seminyak with friends. We've been many times before and always had a good meal/evening..... but the 3 course dinner main course (striploin steak), two of us ordered, was inedible. They replaced with the dinner Barramundi ....which was equally not worthy. The a la carte others had was OK.... but the service was below par. I brought to the attention of the manager but he shrugged. I never complain in front of people and paid the Rp2.33 M bill...but I'll never return to Char Char.
