So wheres the place to get a great steak? I enjoy a steak every once in a while, I would like some recommendations from some expats that enjoy a nice cut of beef as to where they frequent?

We go so now and than to Frits, up the mountain near Lovina, who has a winery and makes very good steaks.
75 rupias and a lovely large salad with chips.
Quisine is also a good place, I have been told they have new owners,I have not tried them yet.

The best steak we had in Bali was Pist'nbroke in Sanur. (play on words, not sure of the spelling now.)They have Aussie Rules on too. Whenever I need some red meat, that was the place for me and my man,who happens to be Italian, and loves a good steak too.

bali bakery has a reasonably extensive imported steak menu, ranging from rp100,000 to rp150,000. never had a steak there, but we eat western food there a lot and never had a bad meal..

After a 4 week stint in India where bovine are 'gods', I was at Loloan 1st night back in Bali (not my 1st choice but nice enough venue...) and had an excellent steak.....but there are many places that do just as well...and great ribs too!!

Could also try Rumours in Seminyak. Aus or NZ beef always.

Ha HA now elite BV!

Planet Hollywood in the Bali Galleria in Kuta is pretty damn good and the portions HUGE, though a bit $$$ relative to the prices in restaurants over there. Very much like the old "Lone Star" restaurants we used to have. The pork ribs are awesome, though I'm not allowed to eat pork anymore :(

A little nostalgic note. There used to be a restaurant in bj Tarukan, just north of Ubud, on the main road to Tegallalang (I think the sign is still up), owned and run by an older German guy. In Germany, he had been a butcher, following in his father's footsteps, but he had always wanted to have his own restaurant. He was a genius in the "meat dept:" he knew how to buy quality and he aged his steaks to perfection. I never tested such delicious steaks in any other restaurants, would they be in Paris, New York, you name it, and even at Mozaic rest. , in Tjampuhan (don't tell Chris).
In you are in the Candi Dasa area, stop in at Amarta Beach Inn, Sengkidu. Owned by a French lady, who used to also own Darimana, Ubud. The steaks there were superb ( and cheap), and so are they at Amarta (at least last time I was there, few years ago, but things can change fast in any restaurant).

Just got back from Warisan and had the Australian tenderloin. Warm foi gras as a starter. Yummy. Although I have travelled in France 120 days a year during 3 years, I never had it Warisan style.

Hi Allan
Next we will try the Steak House in Renon. If it's anything like Ikan Bakar in Renon it should be fantastic. You see hardly any bules there but it's very modern, large, plenty of parking and the fish is sooo cheap and delicious.
Yes, we went to the Ikan Bakar restaurant 2 weeks ago for lunch- delicious Gurami Goreng-the best I found in Bali. And really no bule there.
But where is this Steak restaurant in Denpasar??

I'm surely no steak expert, but I like the 'Flying Piano' Restaurant in Legian for its price/quality ratio for steaks/meat.
You get a black pepper steak, 3 pork medaillions, Schnitzel, beef stroganoff and other choices of meat for 40-50.000 Rp and you'll get a shot of Arak before and a medium size of Arak Attack after included in the price.
Good value for money and nice atmosphere from the Life Band. Sometimes (usually later in the evening) the Owner plays the Piano, which is really impressive.
Anyone tried that?

The Flying Piano is fun, Pedro gives out many free strong arak attacks, his presence is a bonus, BUT the food is utterly abysmal.
