What you need to get is a "[b]Retirement Visa[/b]" in Indonesia. This is for people 55 or more years old. It's [b]not[/b] difficult these days. I call the indonesian Ambassady/Emigration today and hope to get some answer about the Visa.So i get my first Contakt with an indonesian officer he pic up the phone and when i start to aske about the Visa. hallo forum At time i stay in Germany.I start to get 59 next month. I dont like to stay anymore permanent in Germany.So i think to spend my livetime to another Country like Bali Lombok or maybe Thailand.But my first choose is Bali.I read a long time be4 about Asian Livestyle and problems and stay be4 in Bangkok and Manila.For help to get a Rentiervisa i aske at http://www.bali-expat-business.com/bali-product.php I can buy or leas a house like http://www.tonysthouse.com/balit/rental.php For first i need to knew can i stay in Bali for myself not married and not in relation with somone ? I prepaire my future with assurance alrady,i get never problems with low and order here in germany,i get the letter about that alrady.i dont need to work in Bali. and when i read in the forum about the coasts of living so i think 1000 Euro on month must be enough for myself,coasts for a home is alrady payd with leashold for 25 years. I bring nothing with me to Bali some Cloth and my Appel Labtop all other i buy new ther. If you have the time, why not spend say 2 months which should give you time to have a proper look around. While there, contact a reputable visa agent like Bali IDE, who should be able to give you all the correct information on your visa options, and they can arrange the visa for you. Using a good agent is often far less painful and not much more expensive than doing it yourself. Don't be put off by the Embassy staff - in my experience they often don't know the details of various types of visas, especially if they don't deal with that type of visa much. Indonesian people are generally MUCH more friendly and helpful than that. Good luck with your plans Freogirl

Never in my live i can choose wher i have to stay.First it was my parents and we move 3 Times to another City.And after,when i was married,we move 3 times just for my busines or a better surrounding for my kids.So i feel like a Chamelion.I thinki for the first year i rent a home. I am Fotografer so i look around everywhere and my home is always like a Basisstation. Nice neighbors are for me more importent then a perfect look to the beach or .....Riceterrace. Some like to live in isolation from other expats and bury themselves in the local culture, some like to live where there are other expats to socialise with, and some like a bit of both. There are many many experiences to be had living in Indonesia. Before going to the expense of a retirement visa, you could also consider living in Bali/Lombok for 6 months to a year on a social visa. For that you will need an Indonesian sponsor, but I am told it is possible, again something that a visa agent could assist you with. The retirement visa is more costly, has some requirements regarding where you live, and you must employ people and so on, so before you commit to that you may want to spend some time in the country without those restrictions. Move around, see where you like. Freo

When somone invide me who is lokatet in Bogor so i have to stay there first and get a registration there...after 2 month i have to extend my visa againe in bogor and at last for the last 2 month againe in Bogor.So it means i have to travel 2 times to bogor. By these way i spend also time and money.but i am not sure my information is correct. You look like a jolly sort of German person. I also enjoyed some of your images but haven't had enough time to explore them completely. I'm sorry to hear that the staff at the Indonesian Embassy where you are were so rude and unhelpful. Don't worry about that too much because it happens in other countries too. They are not all bad, but there are many that are. FreoGirl wrote:

That may not be exactly right. But trying to get correct information in Indonesia is always difficult. A reputable visa agent should be able to give you some clear(er) information. I suggest that you send one an e-mail with your details and see what they say (like to Bali IDE). I am in the second year of my retirement visa in Bali and I pay Rp 6,000,000/year. I'm married and my wife is Indonesian. That might make a difference - I'm still not sure (but in my case, I haven't struck any problems). Like I said, getting real information in Indonesia is not always easy. If ever. :D

RE: I am rady to leaf germany Apologies if my information was not right, I am only going from 1. the requirements as published at this link: http://www.expat.or.id/info/retirement.html and 2. a very close friend's experience in arranging retirement visa for Bali (in which they have to comply with all of the items at the above link, and then some). but this is Indonesia, and nothing is cut and dry. So there could be other ways to qualify for a retirement visa without meeting all of the items listed. Freo

You may also receive credit for tax taken on interest income for local bank accounts and time deposits and other interest earning methods that are taxed." A good agent should be able to help you understand what you need to do, and perhaps recommend an accountant to assist with compliance. Freo

I don't know what the visa requirements are for Thailand but I've heard that it's more relaxed than Bali. I have a couple of friends who are going to live in Thailand in the next couple of years and they tell me it's much easier than applying for a visa in Bali. Just a thought.
