Crackers Pub in Bedugul is also an interesting place to have some serious political discussions with some of the local Moslems guys hanging around. :!:

Well as we all know, finding a place to relieve oneself are few and far between in Bali. So the lews provide a welcome "relief" so to speak. Yes they are posh by most Indonesian standards. This may be understood by women more than men!!

Thanks for all the replies regarding the LOO!!
I have been at the Bedugal Markets last wednesday, it took us a little while to find the place, but indeed the loos are beautiful! I hope they keep up the maintenance.
We bought some croissants and home made strawberry jam, the baker heated the croissants for us and we had them with a nice cup of coffee in the Crackers Bar.
The Strawberry jam is delicious, we would say morrish

Orang Gila,
When outside my own house in Bali, I only do what even the King gets off his horse to do, at the outstanding Lamak Restaurant's lavatory. :)

I've been up to Bedugul four times in the past three weeks on the way back from the dentist in Denpasar. Each time that I stop in the market this bar has been closed. Is it ever open?

Well, it's pretty easy to explain, they're clean & functional and you don't need to wear your wellies, which is more than can be said of 99% of the dunnies in Bali. Not really a big deal till you need to go, & if you have an aversion to a decent dunny, you can always visit a local squat; that's if you can hold your breath for long enough to do the deed. That's the beautiful thing about choice
I don't think it's ever been claimed to be a reason to visit Bali;
but when you're in the middle of nowhere and need to go then that'd be fair enough reason to pay a visit.
BTW; it sounds as though you've never checked them out, do that first then form your opinion, I think you'd be surprised.
  say no more

Well Doc... Depends on your timing I guess; you must be passing through of an evening.
It's Open from 9:00 to 5:00 every day of the year (apart from Nyepi) There's no real reason to have it open at night, apart from special occasions, as there just isn't the trade to make it worthwhile. but that may change.....

I was there at 9.30am and it had just opened. The handmade strawberry jam made by the baker next door is yummy!

Orang Gila thanks for the info. I just must have missed it because I stopped by the other day at just around five and it was closed. I was looking forward to having a beer while my wife did her shopping for vegetables. I guess I'll have to try it next january which is my next scheduled trip back from Sumbawa.

Is this place expat owned/operated?
dug
Hey Roy, Yes it is, owned by Mr.David who has a nice place across the road(left side from Denpasar) from Hotel Pacung. David's place is the Pacung Indah, nice place to eat! As we have a house in the area ,we frequent both places. And on occasion he and wife stop by the house for a cigar, adult beverage and enjoy the views!! Hope you can sometime,as well as the Doc. Would like to hear some stories from Sumbawa!!
Roy, keep your head down and swing easy........... Good Luck!!!
