Turned on the TV and had channel 86 open with the 71st Miss World contest and the parade of the beauties. Where is Terry Wogan when you need him. If anything needed Wogan's tongue in cheek send up it is this preposterous show. The contestants had obviously been coached in the manner in which to present themselves. They were in high heels to emphasize their ludicrous style of pulled back shoulders, swinging hips and trained to hold the widest, teeth displaying smiles which must be truly difficult to hold for the length of the walk.A good thing that the program had been screened pre broadcast by local censors who understand the impossibility for Indonesian males not be driven into some kind of frenzy of lust if allowed to see it at all as paraded. Where there was more bare skin than viewers could stand a kind of blurred overlay was used to prevent absolute mayhem. A curious feature was that even though many of the larger than usual breasted women were adequately covered the bouncy bouncy effect again was more than local men could deal with so these XXXL breasts were also blurred. This meant that most of the African ladies were blurred. An odd moment with Miss China who walked in a very straight anaphrodisicac, unswaying, unsmiling manner that I guess would not distress the minders of the people's Republic. I note there was no Miss Taiwan. And somehow the screeners missed the intermittent comments by Indonesian lady presenters who, shock horror, did not have their titillating display of skin blurred.A nice touch for the program would have been to parade the Indonesian screeners so we could applaud and appreciate their ability to protect us from too much salacious excitement.
