Hi, I am relocating and bringing a few items in, one will be an espresso machine (can't find it anywhere locally) What's the general feedback on brand new or second hand with duty and carring it in? Kitas not as yet, have a residence though and Pt. PMA.I've heard that second hand items are a no go now for fear of re selling, and if new (or second hand I guess) to have the recpt and under USD500Thoughts?

You can get it locally, but VERY expensive. My usual French restaurant bought a rather simple one, 30 million.Daily baguette bakery just bought a real nice one, 90 million.

Now you know why I drink instant...or Bali coffee

Expresso is nice. I like the flat white coffee at The Kafe in Ubud, delicious! When I'm home I drink the Bali coffee and bump it up with Mandeling coffee from Sumatra! Someday I want to find some coffee from Tana Toraja. I hear it's very delicious also! It's something you have to try to find the variety that you like. Wow spending 30 juta to 90 juta is a luxury I cannot afford!

Now you know why I drink instant...or Bali coffee
Don't tortue yourself like that. Cold brew guys. Bali has some decent Arabica from Kintamani. Soak it in room temp water for 14 - 18 hours and strain with a cheese cloth. The result is very strong but very smooth tasting coffee. Pour over ice for the best experience. If you prefer hot coffee, then buy the same Arabica and use with a french press. A million times better than kopi bali or that nes cafe shit.

Thanks for the tip! Have been to Elec stores, but a limited range of machines for home use
Do not try to import an espresso machine. Some links; 1. Facebook marketplace. Probably safest to inspect the machine before agreeing to hand over any cash.https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/denpasar/coffee-espresso-machines/2. I had my Breville expresso machine repaired by Lazumba in Sunset road a couple years back. They also sell new machines. Even open during covid.https://www.lazumba.com/our-service/3. On tokopedia they sell almost everything. I have bought (expensive) laptop via tokopedia from official store without any issue. Just video receiving and opening of parcel.https://www.tokopedia.com/search?q=espresso+machine&source=universe&st=product&navsource=home&srp_component_id=02.02.01.014. Otten coffe with several outlets in Java, but assume they will ship to bali:https://ottencoffee.co.id/

The price is competitive. For instance De'Longhi EC230.BK Stilosa Espresso Machine Around Rp2.5-3mhttps://www.tokopedia.com/delonghi-official-store/de-longhi-ec230-bk-stilosa-espresso-machine-mesin-kopi?extParam=cmp=1&ivf=false&src=search&refined=trueEven you buy in other countries, the price is quite similar. For instance like this De'Longhi EC 260 for slightly better for 125https://www.johnlewis.com/delonghi-stilosa-espresso-ec260-coffee-machine/cream/p110800343?srsltid=AfmBOooAEZbjfj6hcZflEQmkAqs-OIHq79imTGek6W0uTtgKrAIzNHJ4WBMKeep in mind this is Personal Espresso Machine to be used at home, not commercial or industrial quality.

I've never understood this mania with coffee that seems to have destroyed civilization. "a skinny latte with almond foam" - madness!Coffee is just a fecking drink not a religion folks. I'm perfectly happy with the local coffee I get from my local fabricator add some creamer and sugar. Job done. What is wrong with you all? It's just a fecking drink!

Great info again everyone!!Markit - I hated coffee, the smell, terrible, then I was shown the way, which suited me, certainly not everyone of course, but from the posts I've seen you write, you're a person that likes a bit of info, which is great. Love or hate coffee, here is a fantastic doco on the history of it. The French section is very funny and why it was banned, I won't spoil it https://www.cultureunplugged.com/documentary/watch-online/play/10543/black-coffee-episode-1-the-irresistible-bean

HHi, I agree, it's very concerning not know, and another doco to make you even more concerned, but quite the insight https://www.netflix.com/au/title/81460481
I just watch the documentary you suggested, and was shocked with the situation being so out of control. I guess it comes with so many people to feed, we have to have these mega farms! It all makes my head spin with seeing how so many people live! The cities seem to attract people like a moth to the flame, even though they know of the dangers! Since I was a young adult I have tried to produce much of the food I consume. I learned how to raise animals, vegetables, as organically as possible. At least when you produce your own food, you know much of what the animal or vegetable consumed before it was brought to the table. Of course when you buy food mass produced a person has no idea what is really in this food. It's a dilemma that none of us can control now, unless they can safely say they produce all the food they and their animals and vegetables consume. I don't know anyone who can say this! If there is someone that can say they can, they have my highest admiration!

As a cheese lover there are better places than Indonesia
I agree with you there. From what I've seen the cheese available here in local markets is the equivalent to imitation cheese squeezed out of a can! I have found some decent cheeses at Pepito's supermarket. For awhile they were carrying a nice aged chedder from Australia, but discontinued that brand. I bought a cheddar made in Bali that was not cheddar, it was soft, and tasteless. I would like more of a quality variety of cheeses here, but difficult to find. Any recommendations of where to find these would be appreciated!

You can find good cheese here, French or Swiss. Emmental, camembert, brie, goat cheese, mozarella, parmegiano...Cheddar is not cheese.
