People are attracted to cities due to the various public transport options (in most cities), a mix of cultures, job opportunities, and easy access to shops, amenities, and entertainment.I agree with you, city life is not for me, but I can see the appeal.[/QUOTE]In a developping country the cities will offer more and better job opportunities than the rural areas.Construction, factories, small businesses, maid / helper jobs, etc.... Hence the city lights will attract many rural people.Usually the infrastructure, housing.. will have a problem catching up with those arrivals and the thing ends up with huge problems like traffic, polution, sewage, water supply....On a small scale Bali is the perfect example...Working in construction I have spend most of my overseas career in big cities.Happy now in a relaxed, but wit Western presence, environment here.
