I have had a need for more security at my villa, and went online to buy 2 surveillance cameras that subsequentially didn't work. It could well have been the installer rather than the product, but am enquiring to learn who else may have had some experience and can offer their comments. I also might mention that the previous experience obviously was to connect with my wifi. Also, my electrical knowledge doesn't exceed knowing which way to turn the switch!Presently am in the US where selections are greater, and am planning on buying cordless, equipment that doesn't require a contract before returning to Bali where I hope my satpam is still on duty, and my next installer more knowledgeable.

You don't make it clear if you intend to be present at your villa yourself, watch your security system online from the US or have a security guy there full time? If you are going to be present full time yourself - get a dog. If you will watch from the US you'll be able to at least wave at the burglars or - get a dogIf cameras, you and security guy - get a dogYou may suspect the course of my advise is to get a dog. I have 4, they accrue naturally here to people with pale skins, wanted or not, so it's best to "bite the bullet" and turn a necessity into a benefit and - get a dog. Also they are the best security around - I feed mine successfully on chicken heads and reject rice from the local markets and they are doing great. Remember: If you lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of your car which one do you think will be glad to see you after a couple of days?

Make sure you get with teeth and not blind. Also if times get tough, you can always eat the dog. I hear the black ones taste the best. Yummy!

Thanks, and I agree, as I had one, and now have 2 dogs. Amazing as it will seem 3 guys slipped by! They were apprehended by police, and the leader had a long record. So all I can assume is that he fed the dog, but then why was it that the dog continued to be contained?

Very obvious that I should have expanded on my original post, but so much has gone by that am now trying to plug all the holes. So please, if you will focus upon the surveillance cameras issue it will be of help. The pros that do these burglaries have apparently picked up a few tricks while sitting in Hotel K, and what happened to me can someday be relevant to others as well. Incidentally this all happened while I was still in the house, but headed for the bathroom at 4:00. Noticing something didn't seem right went to the door which alerted head thief who took off so fast he left his sandals behind. As I called the police and they "began checking out the usual sources" when who should pass by but head thief sans sandals on his motorbike! Now, back to the surveillance cameras.........any suggestions?
