Hi. Myself and my partner are looking at spending some time in Bali every year (during our winter) and working remotely. We will be there for 2 weeks in August and looking for recommendations of an area to stay in that will give us some idea of what it may be like to do this. Maybe nit right in the heart of the tourist areas but still has plenty of choice of restaurants/cafes and maybe bluebird taxis as I'm scared to ride a scooter and wary of taxi mafia! Been to Bali many times but mainly stayed Seminyak, Ubud and Pemuteran in the North. Thanks for any tips

Its common here to define beach-side and not beach-side based on the inevitable trunk road that usually follows the coast a few Ks in. Typically things are much quieter and much more local once you cross that magic boundary and a lot of the fibre optics follow the trunk roads so as long as you check before you sign you should be fine.so what this might mean would be Renon instead of Sanur or Dalung instead of Canggu. You might also want to consider Sehseh to Cemagi on Canggui side or sukawati, ketwel on sanur side. The inconvienence of transport may become limiting in these lcoations though. If you are open to cycling or e-scootering sanur might be ideal as you can traverese its entire length on the beach path which has now been widened with a pedestran and other lane (nobody knows or cares which is which though and it already seems to be crumbling in places).South Bali has been rammed in the last 2 weekends - pretty much like the old days.Hope this is helpful

Hi, recommend to search the forum for "villa sanur". Have a look at the more recent posts for some issues to be aware of...some of these things apples to most if not all tourist zones in Bali.
