Hi everyone and thanks for accepting me!I'm a Norwegian expat living in Sanur with my East-Java wife and youngest daughter. I used to work in the energy business in Jakarta and other parts of SEA for more than a decade. Due to covid we relocated to Bali end of last year. We have one child enrolled in Bali Island School. After landing in Bali I was seriously looking into building / buying a villa here. Luckily I came across this form and from browsing through all of Balipod property threads I have realized this is not a wise way to spend hard earned cash. Thanks! In return I will try to share any info / knowledge that may help others here. Cheers.

You're welcome. What's not wise? Not to be too prejudiced if you have some hard earned cash stashed away your Javanese wife will have it fairly quickly if you don't do something sound with it. As I've cautioned in another thread even if she loves the sun shining from your fundament if her fam gets wind of your dosh you're likely to get run over by a Bemo. One of the many dangers of marrying a local. Don't take it personally but they think they're just help her to get ahead. Buy a house and leave it to your daughter in your will. Take the forgoing only mildly seriously - I've discovered a new recipe for some killer pineapple beer!
