We are currently staying in the south for a short while. We usually stay in hotels but because of Covid booked a villa. You can find some good, cheap places now. Since we have a kitchen we have been cooking a bit.The first supermarket we went to was Grandlucky which seems very popular and was packed. Today we went to Carrefour which was dead. It was sad to see so many shops shut in that small mall.I guess Grandlucky has a better range of food and perhaps their produce is fresher, which maybe makes it more popular. Prices maybe about the same. I am still wondering why Carrefour was so dead. I know the Carrefour in Singaraja has really gone downhill, especially with Pepito opening up.

Having shopped at both Carrefour and Lucky in the past found their prices similar, albeit expensive. The reason for shopping both was to find items that one of them didn't carry. Now shop at neither because of crowd avoidance during the pandemic, and have switched to Tiara Dewata Kerobokan Gatsu. The prices seem more competitive without the crowds.Pepito has about 7 outlets in Canggu where we stay, and have fewer customers, but higher prices. The one on Batu Bolong is a bit cheaper because they must compete with Feastive across the street. Feastive is too short on supply with clerks that can't find their ass with two hands,but with cheap beer!One other note is that personally found Carrefour fish market expensive with poor quality while Lucky was far better, and no longer return to avoid the crowds.

Carrefor is not a patch on the shop it used to be, since trans took over , they should stick entertaining locals not retail ,they are expensive with "naff all" product range .grand lucky has a great range but expensive , we combine it with hypermart and lotte , we can find most everything .

Not sure your location, but Lottemart also worth a look. My local is Sanur, unsure if others on the island. Carefour style IMO a little cheaper, but that depends what you buy and looks a bit more warehousy.
