i have been in Bali for over a year i got a retirement kitas and everything went well i have just applied to get another one through the same agent, i have bought a lease on a villa for 11 years everything was through a notary and we have been in the the new place for four months, we have filled in everything the agent asked us for including the new Banjar multiple duplicates and all we need now is the ID of the owner, We have found out from the property agent that sold the lease that the owner has died and his son and the grandchildren wont give us their ID, for what reason we dont know, we are pensioners and we can only think they they are after more money,(which we dont have).we presume the due diligence wasnt done properly on this lease, we are very concerned as we dont or cant afford to leave the country every one or two months to extend our visa, We need this kitas.I there a law , or can the Notary we used make them give us their ID copy.alan is there another way round this

Does the agreement mention about what happens if the owner dies?

My suggestion would be to try to meet with the owners. It could be just a misunderstanding. They might not know why they need to provide their ID. Ask the notary/banjar perhaps to make an introduction, or if you know where they live, maybe pay them a visit, bring a gift and introduce yourselves. If language is a problem, take a friend to help translate.

Agree with Spicy. Arrange a meeting with the new owners together with your notary and I would be very surprised if you cannot resolve your problem
