Hi all, Just joined the forum and looking forward to moving to Ubud mid year. I'd like to start a certain business, (sourcing a tech device from the manufacturer in Jakarta and onselling in Indonesia) so am looking for professional advice on whether that's possible ( any suggestions I'd be grateful). If that's not possible, I'll choose retirement. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. If you plan to get a retirement visa, you cannot do any kind of work on that as you are probably aware.I do know some retired expats who run businesses on a retirement visa, by employing Indonesian workers who do all the work and are the "face" of the business. So, it is possible, but a bit risky to get involved, unless of course you start a company and get the appropriate visas and documents.

Yes, as I mentioned, I would prefer to work, and am looking into the best structure for this, but is it's not possible, I will retire instead.

Re the best structure for a new business, I am happy to seek professional advice. Has anyone had any dealings with CCI? Or perhaps with any other company in the same field? Thanks for sharing any experience you've had.
