Anyone there with the economic background who might hazard a guess as to the total cost of the MF meeting about to take place in Bali with 17,000 delegates? Airfares, daily allowances and salaries, hotels , security, local transport, meals, wine and incidentals. The usual terms for IMF and World Bank loans to poorer countries are accompanied by helpful economic recommendations like slash wasteful expenditure such as subsidies for health services and basic commodities for the poor. Never mind the social carnage, just pay the bills and feel good about having a more "efficient" economy.

From a purely selfish point of view , they have finished the second underpass at simpang ngurah rai ,to impress the venerable delegates , so therefore I save 15 minutes on my weekly shopping trip from nusa dua to hypermart . Happy days !
