I am a United States citizen and my husband is an Algerian Citizen and we have an online business. We have been to Bali and we love it and neither one of us needs a visa to visit but if we wanted to stay permanently is there some way to do that using our online business?

There is a list of businesses which are categorized for foreign investment.Indonesia, frankly, doesn't really welcome foreigners. They like tourists who arrive, drop lots of cash, and depart.Even if you wish to reside in Indonesia, and some here can help to describe those methods, running your on-line business from here is a grey area as any foreigner, normally working in Indonesia, needs a work permit.

If either of you is 55 or more then retirement vis is an option.

This question comes up regularly on this forum and others. The short answer is that, with the exceptions of the retirement visa ronb mentions, or marrying an Indonesian, it is about as easy for a foreign couple like yourselves to live legitimately in Indonesia as it is for you to live in France, the UK or Australia (for example). Of course, there are loads of escapists and chancers 'living the dream' in Bali on social visas (we just met one such family planning to do so in another thread), but they are one immigration meeting away from deportation if they ever step out of line and get caught doing something illegal like working (even with an online business) or even volunteering. Having said that, anything is possible, just like it is pretty much anywhere else in the world, if you are persistent, patient, a bit lucky, and have the funds to find the way to stay legally...
