i am meeting the Banjar head this evening before signing house contract. Is there anything customary I should do? Take gift etc?

For me that would be on the low side.I'd at least double that and put into a red-coloured envelope...as its almost Chinese New Year.Also....if you're a Christian call the Church and present an envelope for their Sunday School activities.Best cover all options to have your new acquisition well-blessed...:D
