Just came back to Bali International last night and noticed the construction, just past Immigration, of a Dufry (duty-free) outlet. It was covered in tarp sheets so not sure...anybody know if they plan to open an inbound Duty-Free store there?

Doesn't it exist already since years? On the way out (Arrival) there is this so called "duty free" zoneWhich it isn't of course. A miracle how countries could vote for Ngurah Rai as best airport in the world. Porters. The armada of illegal taxi drivers (but beat up Uber & GrabTaxi drivers. Way to go).

The construction I refer is prior to baggage pick-up and customs clearance....so could be duty-free on arrival. I'd been to Adelaide for the long weekend and they have an arrival duty-free which eliminates this problem of carrying a bottle on the aircraft...I wish all airports would do this. There is a Dufry store after clearance in Bali which clearly isn't duty-free but, imo, attempts to defraud...a friend of mine nearly bought some vodka until I yelled at him from the waiting area and gave the cut-throat sign.

sounds nice ;) but - as it is Indonesia - I have some doubts

They used to have an inbound duty-free in Jakarta's S-H old building but I suppose the rent went up when the state airport owners saw dollar signs...it vanished when they re-built.

For those seeking up to date information about the airport, I found the www.baliairportexperience.com website really informative. They list all the retailers, lounge information & provide resources for first time visitors to Bali such as myself.
