I just got called by telkom giving me the good
news that telkomspeedy is availlable.
They will connect me on 25 Januari, get 5 days trial. My
office is in Ubung (denpasar) so I assume they cover most
of southern bali.
They only have 1 package in bali now.
Cost will be 300.000 IDR per month with max. 700MB traffic
Price for extra traffic is 700 IDR per MB.
1 time setup fee is 150.000 IDR
You must buy your own ADSL modem.
Speed is 384/64kbps

Telkom came today already. It took about 5 minutes to set everything up and it works now.
Speed is good, i really get 384/64 as they promise if I do a speed test. The only concern I have is the traffic costs
I asked the people from telkom which area they support and currently they are only supporting denpasar/sanur/kuta area. Now lets hope the connection stays stable.

that's good news - and typical TELKOM. Nobody know that in Surabaya. But okay.
I see the prices are different. On Bali it is cheaper then in Surabaya.
Please inform us how it looks later if more people using that on Bali.

hmm cheaper? There is no unlimited package. 700MB is nothing, 700.000IDR extra per gb is expensive, people that dont understand this and start by downloading movies etc. will get a huge bill.
1 of my employees here got her own internet cafe in surabaya, they only pay 2.5M for unlimited in surabaya.

As far as I know there are normal SPEEDY packages (TARIF PAKET REGULAR) and the special packages for schools and university. The normal SPEEDY you kind the following packages:

- Heavy Internet (512/64/2000/350,000/450,000)
- Unlimited Usage (384/64/unlimited/1,520,000/2,280,000)[/list]

Meaning every month the cost are 3,800,000 IDR + 10 % PPN !!!. Or I am wrong?
As far as you can see in Surabaya you get only 500 MByte the month for 300,000 IDR. ANd (!) the Excess Usage cost 1200,- IDR for MB!!!
That what I mean with cheaper on Bali.

Yes I agree on your post altough I strongly doubt if the information in telkomspeedy.com is correct. I wonder, any idea how cable is in surabaya or is it only in jakarta so far?
Anyway, unless they come up with a unlimited package, people should be carefull with there usage if they take telkomspeedy. Tomorrow I will install a old pc with 2 network cards to be able to monitor the montly traffic myself.
I think that a lot of people dont have any idea about traffic and I am affraid that they will get very high bills.
