Hi All,
I'm having some difficulties with my MyRepublic Modem at the moment and its compatibility with my Amazon Firesticks. I have had the same set up for a few years and it has been working great, however, all of a sudden I cannot get an internet connect through them. I can connect them to the wifi but they are showing as no internet. I can connect to the modem via phone and computer and all is ok, however, certain sites like Amazon and Zoom wont connect and appear to be blocked.
I am certain that the issue is with the modem blocking these sites and that I need to change a setting somewhere.
Following a lengthy google search, I have tried a number of things such as adding the firesticks to the whitelist in the modem settings, refreshing all the clients, changing the DNS servers to the default 0,0,0,0 and also trying to change to 1,1,1,1 and 8,8,8,8. None of these have helped though.
Does anyone have any experience, tech knowledge or suggestions?
Regards
Dave
To summarise:
You firesticks (amazon) and amazon via PC have stopped working (recently). They previously worked?
You cannot access zoom on your PC
Otherwise, phones, PCs connected to wifi work as expected.
Most common causes could be
- Geo-blocking based on location
- Some ad-blocker on your modem or operated by your provider.
- (edit) Your ISP has suddenly decided to block them for unknown reason
As another poster suggests try using a vpn to test if things work normally when doing so. Dont mess around with freeware vpns but either test using a trial period for an established vpn ie nordvpn, expressvpn etc.
Alternatively download the opera web browser from a legitimate source and activate its in-built vpn before testing amazon and zoom websites.
Confirm, do they work via the vpn but not via direct connection.
Also worth checking
