I see a side article in that link referring back to passengers being able to bring 2.25 litres alcohol duty free at the beginning of 2022. What is the status of the idea now? I get the impression this is impossible in Bali. Not sure about elsewhere.

I’d take a guess and say it’s aimed at a certain group of ‘guests’ who are hiding out in Bali as they don’t want to participate in Mr Putins war and are opening businesses, treating the locals with disrespect, building enclaves on virgin land etc etc. Just a wild guess on my part mind you.

Motorbikes on sidewalks, passing on the wrong side of a vehicle, passing on blind curves, and worst of all, throwing plastic bags of rubbish, in the Streams, Rivers, Ocean, Streets! One more, after a big ceremony, leaving all the plastic water bottles, and wrappers, for sweets! On the ground!

I mean the locals are perfectly happy to stand next to a burning pile of plastic waste next to (or inside) their compound chatting happily with their mates on super loud 50cc buzz saws. Well, South Denpasar is not "in the middle of rural locals" but your point is valid. We must always remember we are guests in this island. I have a buddy living up in Lovina. Been here over 30 years, speaks bahasa Bali fluently, converted to Hinduism, goes to all the upacara, etc. He's as local as you can get but simply because he is white, he is still treated like the "bule" and not shown proper respect or offered similar rights as the locals. That's just how it is here.

Can. My Missus' son (hindou) married 2 years ago a muslim girl, she converted to hinduism without problem. This was in Banuywangi area.
