Hi, I am relocating and bringing a few items in, one will be an espresso machine (can't find it anywhere locally) What's the general feedback on brand new or second hand with duty and carring it in? Kitas not as yet, have a residence though and Pt. PMA. I've heard that second hand items are a no go now for fear of re selling, and if new (or second hand I guess) to have the recpt and under USD500 Thoughts?

You can get it locally, but VERY expensive. My usual French restaurant bought a rather simple one, 30 million. Daily baguette bakery just bought a real nice one, 90 million.

Expresso is nice. I like the flat white coffee at The Kafe in Ubud, delicious! When I'm home I drink the Bali coffee and bump it up with Mandeling coffee from Sumatra! Someday I want to find some coffee from Tana Toraja. I hear it's very delicious also! It's something you have to try to find the variety that you like. Wow spending 30 juta to 90 juta is a luxury I cannot afford!

Don't tortue yourself like that. Cold brew guys. Bali has some decent Arabica from Kintamani. Soak it in room temp water for 14 - 18 hours and strain with a cheese cloth. The result is very strong but very smooth tasting coffee. Pour over ice for the best experience. If you prefer hot coffee, then buy the same Arabica and use with a french press. A million times better than kopi bali or that nes cafe shit.

I've never understood this mania with coffee that seems to have destroyed civilization. "a skinny latte with almond foam" - madness! Coffee is just a fecking drink not a religion folks. I'm perfectly happy with the local coffee I get from my local fabricator add some creamer and sugar. Job done. What is wrong with you all? It's just a fecking drink!

I agree with you there. From what I've seen the cheese available here in local markets is the equivalent to imitation cheese squeezed out of a can! I have found some decent cheeses at Pepito's supermarket. For awhile they were carrying a nice aged chedder from Australia, but discontinued that brand. I bought a cheddar made in Bali that was not cheddar, it was soft, and tasteless. I would like more of a quality variety of cheeses here, but difficult to find. Any recommendations of where to find these would be appreciated!

You can find good cheese here, French or Swiss. Emmental, camembert, brie, goat cheese, mozarella, parmegiano... Cheddar is not cheese.

Please let us know where to find these variety of cheese. Why do you say cheddar is not a variety of cheese. If it's aged nicely with a good flavor, then it's cheese.

I am curious when you say cheddar is not a cheese. Is this just a French attitude or a Common European one? If this is a common attitude, what is an equivalent variety name?

In Europe only Brits will eat cheddar. Here they use the square precut version to make ham and cheese sandwich. Usually with the cheapest stuff they can find. I use proper ham and Emmental and plenty butter. French butter.
