Bringing in personal medication

Hi all, getting organised for my trip and need some actual current advice. I take "Nexium" ( actually prescribed Esopreze, which is the same thing only cheaper) for reflux . What is the process for bringing it with me ? Any one have recent experience with bringing their meds in ??

Have been bringing my meds in for well over 20 years, and often more than once a year, and never had a problem, nor even asked. In a couple cases did have a doctor provide an accompanying letter where I felt something could be questioned. The obvious situation is something that could be construed as an addictive drug. Marijuana is presently legal in most states of the US, but obviously never attempted here, as I am sure you are aware.

Contact Kimia Farma and you'll probably find your meds are a lot cheaper here - make sure you ask for the generic brands.

I bring a heap of prescription medicines in every time I visit and have never had any issues. Nevertheless I always carry a letter from my Dr and/or one from my chemist. As for the cost, which Markit has raised, as I quality for a part pension my scripts cost me about $7.20 each and once I reach a threshold of around $250 for the year all scripts listed on the PBS are free.

If you open Tokopedia.com you can type in the name of your medicine and check the prices. Many of the suppliers are in Jakarta but the delivery system is brilliant. A few dollars and it arrives to your Bali address in 3 or 4 days. If still bringing meds, as Mugwump says, have a prescription and doctor's letter other wise the stuff will be seized and if pain killers they might even talk about charging you.

Same, I can get it over-the-counter here. It is not really a "prescription" med per-se , but you can get it on a script as it is on the PBS, so costs $7.50 for 30 tabs, as opposed to the OTC which is $20 for 14 tabs. So obviously I go for the script option !

Partially true, but it isn't Kimia Farma. The source is Adi Guna in Denpasar close to where the Tiara Dewata was. They have the best price not online.

I take 16 tablets a day morning and evening. They come prepacked in a plastic case with each day of the week marked. It also has the chemists form with the tablets shown and how many to take. I will be bring 8 of these packets with me as I have done for years. Only once have I ever been asked about then at customs and after a brief explanation have had no problems. At age 78 all my medication from the UK is free. :-)
