I am travelling to bali in march staying in seminyak. I am a didgeridoo enthusiast and keen on purcbasing a balinese made top end didgeridoo (not a cheap bamboo one) as the balinese are renowned for their woodwork and art i would love to add one to my collection. Any pointers on Where to look? Cheers!

Balinese are indeed renowned for their woodwork but how should they know how make a didgeridoo? I mean it's not a common music instrument here in Indonesia. I could also order a cuckoo clock from the black forest in germany ;) Perhaps if you would explain them how it might work but still unlikely as they will say "yes.yes understand" and you'll give a downpayment and get in the end a complete useless piece of wood. Then they'll ask for the rest of the payment as they did "everything exactly as you asked". Might exist but never heard of. sorry

nice input davita - didgeridoos on bali :icon_wink:
All sorts of arts and crafts, made in Bali, but also replicas of other country's arts can be sourced in Geneva on Jl. Kerobokan just a short walk from the end of Jl. Sunset. It's a treasure trove of arts and a crafts and spans two levels.

I have also seen didgeridoos at the Drum Factory in Ubud. My son has bought djembe from their showroom and he says they're good quality.Djembe African Drum Wholesale | Hand Percussion Drum Factory Bali-treasures.com

If, as you say, you're a didgeridoo enthusiast, I think you'll be wasting your time (breath?) looking for a real one in Bali. The ones for sale here are either bamboo or PVC. There are no gum/eucalyptus trees in Bali. I suggest that you check the following Australian site.Australian Didgeridoo Store - Buy Online w/FAST Worldwide Shipping:icon_idea:
