I use AliExpress for most stuff that I can't find here, mainly for their huge choice. Lately car models (Dinky Toys), small kitchen stuff, nails and hooks, thermometer for fridge and freezer, noice insulating pads for chair legs, cables for computer and phone, etc
Sourcing the same stuff here would have given me a headache (limited choice and incompetence of sales staff).
Don't order any heavy (freight cost), and no electronic (very high taxes).
I can track my order online, it is delivered by Postkantor or private company, and I pay the tax to the delivery guy. Kantor Post even send you an SMS 1 day before you receive the goods indicating the tax to pay.
Takes 3 to 4 weeks, no problem for me.
Don't forget that any tax is calculated on the CIF cost (Charge, Insurance and Freight) according to international regulations.
Dozens of orders over the last 3 years, never anything lost.
Ordering books from Amazon also but often the freight cost is same if not higher than the book !
It seems like you have been using AliExpress for various items that you can't find easily locally. You appreciate the wide range of choices and the convenience of tracking your orders online. You mentioned that you avoid ordering heavy items due to high freight costs and electronic items due to high taxes. You have had a positive experience with AliExpress, with no lost packages so far. Additionally, you occasionally order books from Amazon, but the freight cost can sometimes be as high as or higher than
the book itself. Overall, you find AliExpress to be a helpful platform for sourcing various items.
