Had a problem with our home internet the other day so I thought no problem just buy some package for my phone and use tethering.2GB sounds a lot especially if you are not downloading any big files. I was surprised though that it was gone by the next day. Paid just over 100,000 so not a cheap way to get internet. I know there are various packages and that available and you can probably do better than this. It's just amazing how much data you can go through just doing everyday things on the internet. As I have lamented many times on this forum I used to be a long time sim card interneter and have some serious experience with phones/computers/mifi/wifi tethered to a sim card. Main point - make sure your "mobile data" phone connections is turned off when you aren't using internet as it updates your GPS/emails/etc continuously, eating money. Providers "Axis" cost IDR 65k for 5Gb and Simpati are also good with fast connections most places but slightly more expensive. Hard to imagine a world without internet connection now isn't? Just re-watching the 1999 "West Wing" (Bartlet for President!) and it's really weird that nobody has a mobile phone and they all contact each other per pager - prehistoric!

Simpati loop sim is 70,000 4GB for 30 days 24/7 but i use mine in a wifi only and that can also eat the data but this wifi tells me how much i am using

There are certainly better valued mobile data plans out there. Simpati is about 65k for 3.5 GB for 30 days and you get the benefit of Telkomsels 4G coverage which I've found to be pretty good in the main areas.

Smartfren have 30GB for Rp.300.000 (valid for 90 days) on their 4G network, but I'm not sure how available that is outside of Southern Bali.Speed is not so important for my work, but stability is. I've found them to be rock solid stability wise, and although speeds can be a bit up and down, they're pretty good overall.
