Harry you're a little behind the times mate - populations are falling all over the developed world and the powers that be have no clue how to stop it and are terrified growth will follow the pop decline. Hell, even China is terrified with their pop falling like a stone. Apparently only India (I was there in the 80s when the pop was 600 million, now 1.4 billion!) and Africa is still going up. I doubt if the later will be a problem for Bali as most earn less than 1$/day, India too. It seems that the problem is educating women, give em some learning and if fills their pretty little heads with all kinds of wild ideas like "freedom" and political power. Who would have thought?
Well, Markit the populations for the developed world might be marginally decreasing but whatever the official figures, Did you count them? Hah.
Meanwhile a Stanford University study suggests "... Until cultures change radically, the optimum number of people to exist on the planet at any one time lies in the vicinity of 1.5 billion to 2 billion people, about a third of the present number, three California ecologists estimated in an article published in the journal Population and Environment...."
World populations are projected to increase. 2022 approx' just under 8 billion and 8.5 billion by 2029.
Africa's total population is projected to reach nearly 2.5 billion by 2050. In 2020, the continent had around 1.34 billion inhabitants, with Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Egypt as the
most populous countries.
Central America's population is around 180 million and is expected to be 206 million by 2035. A problem for the US with every increasing numbers trying to cross the borders.
The population of Indonesia is estimated to grow from 272 million people in 2020 to
298 million people in 2030. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world
Closer to home, population in Denpasar has grown by 4.05% by per year and it remains as the fastest growing city in Indonesia. Bali's is presently 4.2 million with a projection of just under 5 million by 2035.
Whichever way you look at it we are a bit overcrowded and plundering resources at unsustainable rates.
