[*]To import goods, you have to provide a copy of your passport and Tax card [*]You also need to provide: Date of purchase, proof of purchase, the credit card statement showing the purchase, the website of the vendor, the address of the vendor, the recipients' name and address, your own email address. [/LIST] That should spur economic growth in Indonesia!

When possible, for same price and quality, yes. I order plenty stuff on AliExpress that are impossible to find here.

Did that a few years ago - electronics where good and much cheaper than here (and it came from China anyway). But since they've upped the import duty so drastically that hasn't been nearly so economical and pain free. Your experience is different?

Have a link? I suspect that they "learn slow but sure" is the new watch-word in Indonesia. We bule live here with our attention pointed in only a few directions, but mostly outward towards Europe, Os or North America, and possibly miss the influences that are hammering on Indonesia from the religious, economic, cultural and political sides from much closer to home. Frankly I ignore the stuff that's going on here in Indo mostly because it seems so far away from what I'm interested in. The locals see it completely differently (duh!) and come up with stuff I have no fecking idea is even going on in Bali or Jakarta that really should be of interest to us because it does affect us but, simply put, isn't.

I never order electronics (except for a waffel maker) as I know import duty is rather high on those. My orders are mainly car models scale 1:43 or 1:24 (i have a nice collection) and small kitchen stuff. But even on those import duties have gone up. When I arrived here, 4 y ago, I used to just pay a 20k lump sum for the post office delivery. Now it is more often 40 to 50 k. I'll try to check the %, as I keep all the receipts.

Fred, in the market for a torque wrench myself and wondered if you have any thoughts or recommendations to share given your multicolour shelf full of goodies.. Looking more for quality DIY rather than outright professional grade. Web searching the usual places I see SATA and Tekiro at the pricier end and then Lakoni, Lippro followed by the oddly ikea inspired name brigade ie Sellery etc at the lower price range. Bali walk-in toko prices seem to be about 2* online prices. Cheers in advance.

GO to Jakarta to LTC Glodok. Many varieties and brands like Facom and Wera. Cost is not the prime issue, accuracy is!

Just find the nearest Trakindo(CAT) buy a good torque wrench you can't go wrong.
