davita wroteOn another more general Indonesian forum there was someone with the same nic as the OP asking similar ubiquitous questions about living in Bali. Although the questions and answers seemed genuine, the general tone of the poster, apparently living in Thailand, was challenging; which was not initially appreciated by those attempting to assist.
Overtime there was a better exchange of dialogue and hopefully, with a respect for all posters, this OP (if the same person) can get answers here (Balipod) assuming he didn’t comprehend answers from the other forum; especially as his eventual aim is to enjoy living whilst surfing/kite flying with his family in Bali.
I hope members will post info on RI visa rules and I'll post my own info later. Got to get to the airport to p/u my friend.
Fwiw: This afternoon, this friend of mine living in Phuket on a Thai retirement visa, arrives to stay with us here in Bali. We should be able to compare notes on differences of visa requirements between RI and Thailand. I’ll start a new thread with any info I can glean.
Same same but different.
That forum is quite anal, and in regard to the Bali section, almost non existent. Funny but a big problem was caused behind the scenes from me referring to some pretentious person as 'cupcake'....how droll
Relative answers were somewhat comprehended..although visa questions and information is not something I enjoy doing and wish it could all go away...but it never will...unless I go home and that ain't happening in the near future....so I persevere to understand and ask more questions until I do.
By the way, notice my name is the same as over there, so no biggy really.
From what I understand thus far, a retirement visa for Los, which I currently have as of this year, but prior years was a thai child supporting visa...is a piece of piss to get compared to hear. For example, I had to get an income stat dec from the Oz embassy, cost 600b, circa $20, then my current lease copy and my passport copies and that was it. I was in and out of immigration in 15 minutes with visa all for 1900b..circa $65 for a year, do not have to leave the country at all if don't want to etc.
So, with the ease of that, trying to get my head around the Indo laws is a headache, especially as I have a Thai wife and that I believe creates problems alone and I have no local Indo contacts for sponsorship etc in Bali, have one in Jakarta, but then the issue with renewals in their district etc....so it is not all wine n roses as I wish it was.
Thanks for you offer to supply info.
Cheers.
