Anyone tried to import a TV into Bali? I understand if it's new I'd have to pay a shedload of tax on it but what actually does that mean? If I buy it and play it for 2 weeks somewhere it's not "new" anymore is it?Would be interested in any experience you've had.

I brought in a whole load of computer gear (laptop, 2 x 24" monitors, Multifunction printer, router and VOIP phone) all packed in my luggage, I didn't use the boxes they came in. When I was checked at customs, they asked me if it was all going to go with me when I left. I took a chance and replied "Yes", even though that was a lie. Didn't have to pay anything. If you can fit in a suitcase maybe you'll get away with it.

I did the same as DPH with this all-in-one computer I'm on......that you recommended to me Markit.I used for a few of days in Vancouver then packed into our biggest suitcase, wrapped in bubble. Customs/Security in Bali lifted the computer/23"screen and put it aside to inspect some bulk vitamin tablets the x-ray had detected. He smelled the vitamins and curled his nose then quickly replaced the computer without batting his eyes....probably 'coz the smell stung him so bad...:icon_e_surprised:

But if it's a 65 inch it may raise eyebrows.

Can you explain why you want to import a TV? Down here in civilization we have things called "shops". In these "shops" are things such as TV's and other electrical gear. Have you now got electricity in the cave in Jasri? If all that is too much for your to absorb, call in and I will hold your hand while we head to one of these "shops".

The picture of you an me going through the shops in Denpasar holding hands is almost too much to stand. But yeah I get the idea - see I get these (good ideas) when I don't drink - (spindly chest stuck waaaay the feck out!) have not had a beer or any other alch in one whole week now! Funny, seems longer...
