Saw a thread in FB where some of the people that were on those flights were saying there weren't nearly as many on the flights as the article mentions - in the range of 180 for both flights combined. Also many were complaining the flights flew half full - this was because they had to distance the passengers and Oz would only allow so many to come.
That seems to be becoming a very strange country. Or maybe it always was, we just didn't have FB/social media to tell us about it? America was always fucked up!
This issue is the states have arrivals caps and they are very low, this is why the Garuda flights to Sydney are so expensive now as you're paying for the empty seats next to you.
Being an (ex maybe?) resident of WA, yes, the prime minister and the state premiers all have a totally different idea/message. WA is like the hardest one to get in to domestic nevermind international. I'd like to flick back over to see family and friends, but right now that is pointless. Decided to chill another six months in Bali and then re assess. It's very frustrating if it's your country of residence.
I agree NSW seems to be the most "open" one to re opening and getting on with life. I hear the vibe is terrible, Melbourne is over 200 days of lockdown, QLD trying to stop people flooding and hardening the border the whole situation is really messed up.
