I have heard that they are giving Sinovac to students. I am not sure of the exact age they are doing it from though. If the government wants to start attracting tourists again, then maybe they should calculate the percentage vaccinated as a percentage of people who are eligible to be vaccinated. Or perhaps this is just Jackie's own method of calculation. I think the government has done a pretty good job of rolling out the vaccine, considering the size of the population and the limited resources they have. Of course you will only hear the negative stuff about Indonesia in Australia.

I occasionally see some of the press conferences in Australia on Covid. I say occasionally because they basically say the same thing over and over. They mention vaccination rates of 70% or 80% and everything will be fine and dandy again. They are never clear though what this is a percentage of. In Bali the rate is 72% for first dose. There are probably some anti-vaxcers and people with health conditions who cannot get vaccinated, so in a few months time Bali should be able to declare itself fully or mostly vaccinated. Personally I cannot imagine restrictions being magically lifted in Australia once these numbers are reached, even though this is what the politicians are saying. Anyway, it seems like the numbers are moving the right way in Bali and we can start to see places opening up again.

This thing about 60, 70, 80% vaccinated is just good P.R. Look at Israel... One of the highest vaccination rates in the world, and the number of positives is peaking again. The vaccine doesn't stop the spreading of the virus, it just protects (in most cases) the vaccinated person from being critically ill.

So ignoring Marxists for the moment, I believe the Australian press is talking about 70% or 80% of eligible adult population (over 14s I think). Jackie Pomeroy quotes percentage of total population, so this morning had 3,211,631 first jabs and she uses a government figure for total population which apparently is 4,466,595. So Bali’s 74% for first jabs would be higher if quoted as a percentage of some adult population – maybe close to 100% as you suggest. I think Indonesians get NIKs when 18, and as a rough rule about 25% of a population is under 18. So something doesn’t add up. Maybe the number of first jabs is somehow over-counted, or maybe the government figure for total population is an under estimate, or both. But I agree Bali numbers are good and the 2nd jab count is steadily climbing, so we could expect the new cases per day should go lower. I would anticipate that Jakarta will be cautiously re-opening some tourism before too long.

It's beginning to seem inevitable that we will all get this virus and the only difference will be between the vaccinated and non and that will be evident in the hospital figures. Since it is inevitable then that means we can all stop with the silly restrictions at the borders, on beaches, malls, schools, basically any/everywhere. WE WILL ALL GET THE VIRUS! So lets drop all the silly restrictions that are killing millions too and all the sillier counting this and that and get back to life as it was. For those specifically at more risk let them take whatever cautionary steps they think necessary. I'm tired of this shit.
