My daughter, hubby and 2 boys visited over Easter using cheap fares on Jetstar from Sydney.....and got back this morning. They didn't have to pay VOA nor departure fees...they were delighted. My wife's friend has 2 sons at Uni in Sydney and it costs her a small fortune for her visit visas.

They still pay departure tax its in the price of ticket now since last year
I'm aware of that but their last visit required them to keep some Rupiah for the airport fee. Indonesia has at last moved on and changed some of its fees....has Australia reciprocated?

Last November I bought my round trip ticket from Ny to Surabaya on Singapore airlines for $1,032,,and it also included the departure tax, previously I was paying between $1,500-$1,600,so prices are definitely lower, but I think it depends a lot on what airlines we use, fuel prices are down but many airlines are not passing on the savings to the passengers,

There are lovely people there and I'm sure great things to see but in that respect it's similar to America as everything is spread sooo far apart that it's a major organizational effort to get about and I'm the kind that needs to get more "in depth" where I'm at and not just see the sights, check the list and move on. Having said that, if the Oz $ was to tank I'd consider going for 6 months or so.

Flights from UK to Bali have Risen not fallen I know as i have just booked, into Jakarta is very reasonable but Bali 150 more
So why not fly into Jakarta and transfer to Bali on a domestic/budget carrier...I just paid Rp420,000 to go DPS-JKT and Rp440,000 (UK24) to return....for flights later this month. For April I've even seen Garuda flights JKT-DPS for less than UK40.Just read that Garuda now flies non-stop Heathrow to Jakarta 5 times weekly. I have no idea of times nor pricing but well worth checking for anyone flying that route.....and connecting to Bali.
