Any info about this internet provider would be great. They are coming to do a site survey and since beggars can't, apparently, be choosers I'd love to know what may be coming at me. The run their service over an antennae so with lots of coconut trees around have not got high hopes. Starter service costs IDR500k not sure for what though....Lost all real hope of a connection long ago, Markit

I'm not familiar with Acenet and don't know anybody who uses it. I looked it up and one link was in Indonesian. Google Translate gave me this:Home Internet ServiceNet-Personal is specially designed for personal home users who desire high-speed internet access. Surf the internet and all your internet activities will be more comfortable. Share the connection with your friends and family at home will be Easier. Internet unlimited quota and starts from 500,000 * per month.* Rate subject to 10% government tax
Obviously a very good reason to be wary of Google Translate. (I was too lazy to provide a "better translation". Thought about changing "..and family at home will be Easier" to "..and family will be at home for Easter".)Managed to open Acenet's website in English. No specific information about speeds, just the usual vague promises. The Business Package is 4 Mbps over fibre (2,500,000 monthly, plus tax in Google Translate). As far as I can tell, Acenet's backbone is fibre-optic (where it's available). Elsewhere, I assume they use towers and wi-fi to connect to it.Interested to know what their survey comes up with your place. On their English page, I was surprised to see a message saying something like "Thankyou for your enquiry" when I hadn't even filled out their form for more details...Good luck.

I'm always a bit dis-heartened when, for instance, seeing a cobbler with frayed shoe laces. In the case of Acenet none of their links worked to contact their various people - sales 1/2/finance/billing. Oh well it can only get better, can't it?!?

...They are coming to do a site survey..
So, how did you contact them in the first place?I don't know if they're good or bad. I believe that they've been operating in Bali since 2006.No need to be disheartened; just take it on the chin that this is Indonesia we live in, where Western logic is in short supply, and Bali is only marginally better (sometimes).Give the surveyors some chocolate Easter eggs when they turn up.And some new shoe laces, if they're not wearing sandals.Give 'em shoe laces even if they are.:apple:

A Balinese mate did the deed for me.

If the home package is 1/5 the cost of the business package, and the business package gives you up to 4 Mbit/sec, then you might expect the home package to be limited to 1 Mbit/sec - just guessing.

Good point Ron if/when they come I'll ask them.
