Not my usual controversial, boring or cutting-edge commentary but nevertheless massively important to those that can't stand the stodgy, sticky glued together, tasteless mess that the Balinese/Indonesians call rice. Take a cup (any size container) of the local rice - don't do nuthing to it but put it in a pan with a good glug of coconut oil and fry it gently until golden brown, usually about 10 minutes. Then pour 2 times the equal amount of liquid (u used 1 coffee cup for the rice? then use the same coffee cup) can be chicken stock, tomatoes and onions with garlic (my fav) or plain water if you're that way. Leave now for about 15 minutes to cook through and when ur done take it off the heat and leave it for another 10 minutes. Fluff it up and enjoy. Your rice should now be nice and corny and covered in flavor and sauce not the stuck together gluey mess the locals love. Mother Markit

Yes, Mother Markit, but how do you eat that sh*t with your hand?
Quite easily - just put a spoon in the hand or if the tremors are getting too strong Mother Markit recommends throw a beer in it and use a fecking straw.

Am I the only guy that cooks? I know it's supposed to be "woman's work" but I always thought an hour cooking was like 2 of therapy and afterwards you get to eat something good. Anyone else have some recipes they'd like to swap I'll put aside my knitting and give em a try...

My darling Markit, I have been cooking rice that way for years. It brings out a "nutty" flavour in the rice. A Chinese woman showed me how to cook rice in that manner about 40 years ago.I can do other things rather than just open salami and cheese. Next time you are in town for more than 73 seconds let me know and I will show you a few things to cook that make people go "wow"

The beauty of having staff is that when I cook it looks like the St. Valentines Day massacre afterwards with blood, guts and brains spattered up walls and usually every pan I own in service - even if it's just cooking rice. In my previous lives I've had decent rice to cook (long grain, basmati, Italian Arborio, etc) not the floor sweepings that the Indonesians (and apparently the Ozzies too) call food so making a risotto was always a treat not a necessity. Australian men seem to all be reasonably good cooks so I'll look forward to your luncheon at the end of the month No.idea when Mike and his crew are coming to yours for a day and then up to visit the real Bali in Candi Dasa for 3.

Micheal Latina and missus are bringing goodies for various charities first to you and then up here towards the end of the month. He's more in contact with my missus so if I'm lucky they will all run off together and I can go hang out at Siti's Garden :icon_wink:

Hell, we can do that too.
Bike trip - I rather prefer your idea of sitting all day in Siti's garden drinking cold beer and eating pies. I'm sure the owner would open up a tab for a week then we could go on the bike trip after 6 days. Do you think Siti leaves her keys on the bike.
Markit
I'm gonna try and check out Siti's Garden today and if it's the same Siti I think it is you would not want to leave after 6 days. Pix to follow...

Chilli Cheese and Black Pepper cheese at 155,000 per kilo, both are very nice. Mozzarella Bocconcini at 190,000.

I feel someone is trying to change the subject by bringing up that old crown pleaser cheese. Nevertheless the search for cold beer went on and managed to get some pictures of Siti, her bar and a couple of LGBT demonstrators who also hang out there - isn't it amazing how quickly a bar can get a rum clientele? Beer was good though...
